I spent the night reading fluff. Like some of you as I get older I like my escapism to have a happy ending. I bought these off Amazon because they were dead cheap. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O...

Very sweet read that didn't take any effort at all which sometimes is the best thing ever.

Yes. It is classic, flawless noir.

Read JCP's Body Art: A Thriller. Very good (of course!). And definitely not as scary as I initially thought it would be.
Started reading FLAX'S PURSUIT by Bellora Quinn and Angel Martinez last night...which was a mistake because I stayed up till 3AM. Stubborn as usual, I gave up when I fell asleep sitting up. Excellent sequel to QUINN'S GAMBIT, book 1 of the AURA series. I'm clearing the decks this afternoon and finishing this puppy!
I gulped down Guardians Of The Haunted Moor, the fifth in the Tyack & Frayne series by Harper Fox, and enjoyed it greatly. I am usually not a big fan of paranormal elements, but here they are so cleverly intervowen with character development and regional traditions, enriching the story. This one is maybe my favourite in the series now.

After a lot of kindle crashes and no Wi-Fi, finally have it on my machine. I'll start it this evening. Can't wait.

I'm really looking forward to read this one. Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much.

The books I am reading are making me cranky. One has two alpha males obsessed with who tops. It seems to be the only thing the two think about when sex is involved. Grr!
The other is just meh. I'll finish them both, eventually, but dayum.
Get me something good to read!

I want my detectives detecting, not changing nappies.
Finished FLAX'S PURSUIT by Bellora Quinn and Angel Martinez this morning. If you like PNR with excellent world building, believable characters, kick-ass action; and a stubborn, shortsighted MC, I highly recommend this book. I'll shut up now. I have a bazillion ebooks and print books...and I'm unsettled, darn it, and flailing around like a madwoman! *trembling lip, feverish brow* Maybe I'm in book withdrawal? I've got more Angel Martinez books I haven't read yet.
Do they have a cure for biblio-mania?
I have Sutphin Boulevard as well it sounds very intense and am interested to know what people think, but at the moment have just started Harper Fox s Guardins Of The Haunted Moore two of my favourite guys.

I started Ginn Hale's Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book One yesterday. I'm not very far into it yet, but I'm already pulled in. And as always with Ginn's stories, I'm amazed at the creativity and world building.

I am definitely in the anti-kid brigade (love for my nieces and nephews notwithstanding).
I do not read books with kids. Period. Isn't that silly? But I really do not enjoy kids in fiction -- even though I occasionally write them.

My love for children notwithstanding :)
I do have problems with zombies and other un-dead creatures, ghosts, vampires and so on. The thought of the dead not staying dead, creeps me out. And twincest. As a twin, I'm really grossed out at that being used for titillation. Ugh.
But then,I have come across exellent stories with vampires, or incest, so it all comes down to the writing and the storytelling, as always.

Harper Fox is next up in my queue.
Bollocks. No, no, that's what I've been reading. Bollocks! One story stole the show in this anthology, with two close contenders for second place.
Josh wrote: "Kirsten wrote: "Varecia wrote: "I gulped down Guardians Of The Haunted Moor, the fifth in the Tyack & Frayne series by Harper Fox, and enjoyed it greatly. I don't mind if the kids have been there since the beginning because then it's not really a change in the dynamics and I know what I'm getting into, but I don't like them intruding on my established romance couples out of nowhere. It's like the book just took a sudden turn into DNW territory and it even colors how I think about the previous books. (And it doesn't help that my neighbor's kids are the most obnoxious brats on the planet. I think they color my perceptions.) (And I apparently have lots of "feels" on this subjects as well! ;)

I don't actually remember how I felt about Elezar after Lord of the White Hell, but I really liked him in Champion of the Scarlet Wolf. And his cohort, Skellan, is particularly awesome. I love these books a whole lot.

And you have to read ''The Rifter''!

I've accepted that'll I'll never read many the "great works of literature" because so many them are just dismal. I've never been fond of unhappy books and these days I avoid them like the plague. I'm reading for escape and relief and enjoyment; I don't even want Big Misunderstandings.
Kirsten wrote: "Varecia wrote: "I gulped down Guardians Of The Haunted Moor, the fifth in the Tyack & Frayne series by Harper Fox, and enjoyed it greatly. This is a brand new book which many of us have not had to chance to read yet. I don't know if what you refer to is in the blurb because I avoid reading them too, so I can read the book without any pre-knowledge, and I doubt if I'm alone in that.
Edited to add: I've now turned to the next page and see lots more discussion of the point you raised, so the cat is out of the bag. I'm leaving this post in the hope that it may make people think a little before posting details of new books.
I have the same problem with kids as Anne does. I don't mind them in my reading, much as I loathe the thought of having my own, but when kids are expected to make a relationship perfect? No. Because that's not even true in real life!
I'm two books behind for my summer reading thanks to moving and reading The Caine Mutiny at the same time. 500+ page books do take forever to read! But at least the next seven are short books. I just started Strachy's Folly and the following book will be Glitterland!!! I'm so ready for that one!
I also just finished the audio for Greenwode, the sequel to Shirewode. If you like Robin Hood stories, you MUST read these! I love the idea of a gay Robin where Marion is his sister. :-)

Those sound so interesting, Jordan. Now that you mention Robin Hood, I want to watch the Errol Flynn classic!
Steve wrote: "Those sound so interesting, Jordan. Now that you mention Robin Hood, I want to watch the Errol Flynn classic!"Haven't you seen it? It was a perennial re-watch as a kid. I loved Errol Flynn. In that and in Captain Blood.
Just finished Guardians Of The Haunted Moor. Loved it.Please all of you, don't let the fact that a baby has been added to the mix influence you over much. This book is so much more.
I should point out that I am so not a baby person.
I really need to get back into the Rifter series. I'm on the third book, but i have this feeling that I will not be able to stop if I start up again. ;-)I also feel kinda ambiguous about the character in Scarlet Wolf. So I'm eager to hear everyone's thoughts

I wasn't keen on any of the MCs in those books, but rated them all 3 stars for plot and still hoping for more.
(Not the Rifter books, haven't read them)
I'm re-reading at the moment, just did some Chris Owen Cheek to Cheek Turn the Other Cheek (3ish stars to both) now it's Lesson Learned which is a 5 star read
I reread Fair Play. There is a nice prize contest on the Josh Lanyon Fan Page https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id...( give one of your favorite quotes from the Josh Lanyon books ). One of mine is from Fair Play :-) !
HJ wrote: "Kirsten wrote: "Varecia wrote: "I gulped down Guardians Of The Haunted Moor, the fifth in the Tyack & Frayne series by Harper Fox, and enjoyed it greatly. I am usually not a big fan..."I haven't read the book. It's all from the foreshadowing in the previous one and the blurb.
Haldis - do eeeeet! What are you waiting for? John and Ravishan are patiently waiting for you to come back. Don't disappoint them!
Idamus, why have you not picked up The Rifter yet?

Errol Flynn's Robin Hood was good, but I kinda like this one best. The author includes most of the little details and backstory that everyone knows. The crusades happen. There are Templar Knights, of course. And evil nuns. Old magic too. Less sex than in most romances. It's almost of epic proportions. Reminds me a bit of LOTR the way it's told, but not entirely.
