Like everyone else said, good quality book and the covers are just so very pretty. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that the font is a bit on the small side, not too small, just smallish/er (than the font in the Blind Eye Books books for example) so i had to wait for when i wasn't tired to read it. But i'm glad i got the print. I'm getting the rest for kindle though.

I totally missed the release of Dream Alchemist. How did this happen?! I was looking forward to it. The description sounded intriguing.

As for Skyler Foxe, I read the first one and liked it a lot but never got around to read the next installment. Strangely I wasn't especially fond of the cop/love interest.

Yes, same here. And I enjoyed much more the shenanigans/mystery solving part than the romance which felt a bit...stressful.

I had all of Aleks' Dark Soul in ebook format, but when I saw the print edition in person I decided to buy it right then and there and I hadn't even read the ebooks yet. Very beautiful covers if I do say so myself.

That was on my reread challenge list, until I realized I had too many books and really should concentrate on one book/series per author. lol. I LOVE Wicked Gentlemen!!!

But I'm also really loving getting back into The Rifter. The time shifts really hurt my brain though. lol. Sometimes just reading about it, I feel like Kahlil in the beginning when his memory was really bad. :-( But, that's also the beauty of it, I love this series!

I enjoyed it, but it's oddly constructed. The ending seems somewhat rushed and nothing feels quite resolved. It's meant to be a series, but I'm not sure that this ending was a good stopping point, if that makes any sense. Let us know what you think when you're done.

I'm getting close to the end of the first Rifter print book and that thought alone is scary. I don't want to get to the end yet! I know, I know, there are two more books to go. Still...

message 7167: by Becky (new)

Becky Black (beckyblack) How's everyone who resolved not to buy new books without making a big dent in their TBR stack doing?

Since I got two new ones today I'm not doing great on that, but they were from my "oh, except for those authors obviously" list. And they were preordered last year anyway, so it doesn't count. ;-)

I reckon that between my "to be read" and "maybe later" on the Kindle and the stack of unread paper books I have, that if you stopped me downloading or buying any books from today it would be two years before I had to reread anything or start relying on the library. :D And that's ignoring stuff like the leather bound set of Dickens I inherited and most of which I haven't read. That could take me to three or four!

Ije the Devourer of Books | 1994 comments I am sure i have enough reading material for the next 3 years. And i am proud of it :)

So far this year I bought some books from DSP (oops) but my rule is only to buy books if they are going to be immediate reads. (Alas note the plurals)

BUT i am not doing too bad so far. No more stockpiling for me or adding to the existing piles.

Fortunately I haven't made any such resolve since long experience have taught me I will cave in almost immediately the second I saw one " must have" book.:) I think I probably have at least one year's worth of unread stuff on my Kindle and bookshelves.

I bought two audio books. One was JCP's latest, so duh, I couldn't NOT buy that one. And then I bought Dark Horse which was on my wish list for awhile. It looks interesting for an M/M/M book, and I figured I'll need a lot of audio books this year, what with my walking challenge. Plus, hot guys and horses. Otherwise, I haven't bought anything, only maybe claimed a free book or two.

I had pre-ordered Liberty and Other Stories from ARe, so that doesn't count. :D I'll be reading those soon.

I just finished reading Lord of the White Hell and that has been on the TBR list for a while. I really enjoyed it. I don't have Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book One yet so may hold off until next month to buy it.

I just got The Knife of Never Letting Go e-book from my library holds so I was thinking of getting the audiobook for cheap. Has anyone listened to this series in audio?

Next up is Control which I just got through Lendle. I had requested it ages ago. :)

I have and I enjoyed it. Knife is the best of the three books in my opinion, but they are all good. I'll probably relisten to it this year.

Oh and I'm not counting audiobooks in the "no new books until I read the ones I have", since I don't generally have a big backlog of those, I just buy them as I go along. Though I have got a bunch to listen to right now!

Varecia | 956 comments I caved and bought the first one in Jordan L. Hawk's new series Restless Spirits, but I have read it already :-) Now I am on to another new purchase, Liberty and Other Stories.
And aside from that I bought The Penguin Complete Novels of Nancy Mitford; while sorting through my shelves I discovered some unread biographies about her and her family together with some of her novels in German translation which I enjoyed very much years ago. So I decided to make the Mitford clan and the original versions of the novels another reading project for the spring - hope I will find the time for it.

Thanks! I may read a bit of the e-book and see if I like it before I buy the audio.

I have a ton of audiobooks - probably enough to last me at least 6 months if I listened regularly. I used to listen to at least one a week but it's been harder for me to get into them lately. The last one I started was Code Name Verity and I'm just not feeling it.

Alison | 4756 comments I read a string of really superb books over Christmas:

Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book Two is awesome. No surprise there. I love Ginn Hale's books. Full stop. :)

The Salisbury Key is beautiful, for it is written by Harper Fox. I save her books for when I am in the right mood and they never fail to completely amaze me.

The Cranberry Hush by Ben Monopoli was really wonderful. I don't read a whole lot of contemporary romance novels, but I really enjoyed this one a lot.

John Wiltshire's A Royal Affair was my last book of 2014 and I totally loved it. What a great end to a marvellous year of reading. Thanks are due to Antonella for mentioning this one not too long ago. It's an excellent, slightly-AU, kind of dark historical set in the Reformation era in northern Europe about a doctor and a prince and there are battles and scheming and poison and love and really great animal companions (a dog and a horse). The doctor narrates and his tone is wonderfully deadpan and wry and I actually laughed a fair bit reading this, though it is not at all a funny story (not at all.). It's a quiet, dry humour of the sort that I absolutely love. It's a great book (with a cool cover) and I gather there is to be a sequel of some sort. I'm keen to read his other books.

Since I've been back home I've not felt like getting into any novels or anything long, so I've been gorging on webcomics and reading lots of short things and anthology stuff, which has been good fun.
