This is something I, too, do from time to time -- read the Administration shorts for comfort. It's always so rewarding to visit "Torrick" (LOL) even for a short time! :-)

Brothers of the Wild North Sea is definitely worth of "hoarding". The sense of place you mentioned is incredible in it. So... overwhelming and as beautiful as it possibly can be. You'll absolutely love it, dear.

Aleksandr Voinov (vashtan) I went to bed way, way too late last night reading and skimming these. What a fantastic source. And considering that the next (Winter) Olympics are being held in an autocratic country (to put it mildly), it's more pertinent than ever.

Katharina | 656 comments Hj wrote: "Katharina wrote: "I'm reading the Bellingham Mysteries right now (just started the second story) and I really love them!! Peter's such an awesome character, he has me in stitches with his comments...."

Exactly. The "obituary" he wrote for himself in his head when he sees his and Nick's place for camping in the snow had me rolling on the floor ("Fontaine's blue, frozen body will be on display at the Freezing Man Snow Sculpture Festival until the North Cascades experience a significant summer snowmelt."). I love that he's always ALWAYS a journalist, at every moment. I have to admit that the mysteries could probably be about someone stealing a cookie and I'd still love those stories.

ETA: maybe the fact that I've just come back from visiting Washington State and actually played around in the snow there four days ago could also be part of the reason why I adore these mysteries....

Here is a thought... well, a question, really.

KC is just starting to read the #3 book of Joseph Hansen's Dave Brandstetter mysteries and she would love to discuss the series in this group. I've had my The Complete Brandstetter waiting to be read for some time now and at least some of you have also been talking about reading this series. What would you guys think if we'd set up a topic for Hansen's Dave Brandstetter mysteries (12 books)? Maybe under something like Special BOM Project, Autumn 2013? All twelve books will take a lot of time to read after all. :-)

Aaaaanyway, I won't set up a topic before I'll hear what you guys think about this idea -- and if there will be enough group members willing to take part in the "challenge". KC and I both remember Josh wishing that we would discuss the series here in his group when we'll start reading it. We thought that setting up own topic for it would make the discussion easier. So, what do you guys think?

I would love to read that series, but I'd kind of like to read the first one for a BOM. Something to get me into the first book at least. Otherwise, the way my book buying and reading is going I'd have to pass when I don't really want to.

But that's just me. Btw. I might even have time to read it in August if its chosen with enough time for me to buy it. I'd really like to!

This is just a friendly reminder that we're having a summer long discussion about the poems of Wilfred Owen over in the BOM area.

We're working our way through the last of the first ten selections chosen by Caroline and I just posted the next ten selections yesterday.

If anyone hasn't joined in but would like to, you're more than welcome!

ttg | 305 comments Just finished You Get Full Credit For Being Alive by Cari Z, a free novella that's part of the M/M Romance Group's Love Has No Boundaries event.

Totally dug it. Highly recommend it to action-romance fans (especially if you liked Zero at the Bone.) It has a similar vibe as the story's about a former assassin who helps an injured cop that he found beaten and abandoned in the woods behind his house. It's a little less than 40,000 words, but still nicely meaty, and has a great slow developing relationship. :D

For anyone interested, a downloadable version can be grabbed from the group's site here: http://www.mmromancegroup.com/?p=20924

I think that's a great idea, Jordan! We could have the first Dave Brandstetter mysteries book Fadeout as August BOM book and then continue reading and discussing the rest of the series from there. We've been talking so many times about wanting to read Fadeout in this group. And now it can be found in e-format, too.

Cool. :-)

I actually have The Complete Brandstetter here in the countryside with me, but it's alarmingly starting to look like that I won't have time to start reading it until after Manchester and Scotland (in the other words sometime near the end of July). I've been so exhausted in the evenings after all the painting and building that I've actually been too tired to read much. :-) I've never read Hansen before, so I'm really looking forward to this.

LOL. Yeah, there should be a magnifying glass to go with every purchased The Complete Brandstetter. You must be a lot younger than I am, so probably you'd manage without it, though. But I'm on the verge of needing specs for reading anyway... that's something I really have to start considering in the near future, I'm afraid. Well, I've always thought that reading glasses are pretty sexy -- at least on other people. ;-)

I recently read Fadeout and Death Claims and have Troublemaker here ready to read. All in paperback, since I was using my new Amazon Prime account for free shipping. LOL.

I hear there were e-book formatting issues with the first two books, which have been available as ebooks for a while. The last 10 ebooks were VERY recently released by another company, and at least one person indicated here that those seem to be okay. So if any of you have issues trying to read the first couple as ebooks, hopefully the rest will be okay. I plan to eventually get the rest of them as ebooks now.

Anyway, I'd love to discuss them as a BOM or other project, though I can't promise to write nearly as much as you folks do when you disect a book. But I LOVE following along and reading what you write! :-)

Thank you very much. I've been wanting to read more of the LHNB stories, especially now that they are available for download. But right now I simply don't have time to read them all!

I know that last summer there was a list where people were rating the various Love is Always Write books. Is there a similar list anywhere for the new ones yet?

Here is the list of all the stories with their GR pages. There are no ratings on this list though, just all the stories in the order that they have come out (or will be coming out. There's a few future ones at the end that haven't been released yet.)

http://www.goodreads.com/series/10483...

And here is the page again that anyone can access to find and download e-versions of the stories. They can be found by author or release date: http://www.mmromancegroup.com/

I haven't read too many, but so far my faves have been Nor Iron Bars a Cage, Treasure, and You Get Full Credit For Being Alive.
