I am reading Rick R. Reed's latest, Husband Hunters. Two gay best friends join a reality TV show to find a husband. The show producer sets them up to find each other. So far it sounds promising.

This weekend i started two very good books, Backtrack which has been sitting on my desk for quite a while, but it's Hansen so it needed the right time. It's very good and very intense. I had to stop about a third in to let it simmer. I want to rush forth but i don't want it to end too soon.

And The Detective Lane Casebook #1, a very nice surprise (thank you, John, for mentioning the book :-)), and what was more surprising, in a very good way, was that at times the writing, descriptions, in particular, were reminiscent of Hansen's writing.

Finished First Against the Wall late last night. OMG. That was crazy emotional at the end. I don't want to spoil it, but OMG, Toreth and his feelings! GAH!!! lol.

Started City of Soldiers this morning. So far, it's pretty good.

I hate reality TV shows, but this book is sort of tempting. I think I've only read one other book by Rick R. Reed and it was okay.

I survived the train wreck that was The Brothers Bishop over the weekend. The story really pulled me in and I ended it up reading most of it in one sitting even though I did feel a bit sick to my stomach at times.

I just finished reading part 1 of Beneath the Stain, Amy Lane's new 7 part serial. I think it will be high on the angst but I think I'm going to like it a lot.

I'm currently reading One Plus One.

I hate reality tv shows too. But JCP's Magic Mansion was awesome! Still, I wouldn't go out of my way to read reality tv books, unless I was already familiar with, and loved the author's previous works.

I think I am finally up to the Nava-challenge. Some of the books came out in a german translation like 10 years ago, I read one or two than but could not get into it. Now I started the first one and found that I really enjoy the writing style, besides of liking Henry, of cause.
I budgeted over the last weeks, bought all the e-books now and look forward to emerge myself in Henry's world.

The Devil Lancer! It's so good! It's Astrid Amara's newest book and it's amazing. It's all about the Crimean War and it's gripping and vivid and rich. This is a big war story and it's heartbreaking at times, and the paranormal element throws an interesting twist into the abject horror of the Crimean War. I adored the two leading men and their adventures are really exciting. This is a great book and I absolutely loved it. Highly recommended!

I just finished reading Elan meets Rafa which is also an online comic and can be found at http://elanmeetsrafa.com/ it is a great series and gives TJ and Amal a run for their money. I wouldn't have thought that possible but it is. A lovely story and free too with new chapters being added each Wednesday. Comic book heaven!

I also finished reading Meatworks which is a great story about kind of unlikeable characters. It felt very different to what I normally read but it was great. I have quite a few JCP books in my to read pile and I am looking forward to getting to them.

I am still slowly making my way through The Definitive Albert J. Sterne which is excellent but very long. Today I am going to start Murder In The Rue Dauphine by Greg Herren. This is a new detective series for me set in. New Orleans. I hope I enjoy it because I haven't read anything by this author before and he has two detective series which look really good.

I've read several of these and liked them. The two series are quite different because the lead characters are, and they give a strong feeling of New Orleans. The earlier books are pre-Katrina. I must find my copies, re-read them, and then read the rest of the series!

Greg Herren has just been on a trip to Italy, and I thoroughly enjoyed following it via his photographs. Coincidentally, Dorien Grey went at about the same time, and they were both in Venice within days of each other! His photos were excellent, too.

I finished reading City of Soldiers the other day. It was interesting, but not as much of a romance as I'd expected. I still enjoyed it, but I think a sequel would be helpful to see how things work out, what with the sorta threesome agreement that isn't really a threesome.

Jessica Freely writes some really fun fantasy. All of her stuff has been really good. This one reminded me a bit of Blaine's stories. True Nature.

I'm reading book 2 of Red Dirt Heart 2 by NR Walker. It's been a few weeks since I read the first one so naturally I forgot it was in Australia. When the cowboys started to say "bloody" and "kilometer" it gave me pause until they mentioned the kangaroos, hehe.

I finished The Little Death, the BOM discussion was very enlightening so I don't have much to add to that. Maybe only that I really liked the way Nava made a character come alive for me with just a few pointed words. And after reading a lot of explicit books where the authors felt the need to inform me in detail about everything from the hair colour of the MC to his favourite underwear and the emotions he supposedly felt it was wonderful to go on a tentative journey where I could slowly explore a person coming to my own conclusions and not being let along like a 2-year old :-)

I finished reading Joseph Hansen's Backtrack a couple of days ago and was thinking along the same lines about Hansen's writing. And what a gem of a book Backtrack is. I loved it and I, too, highly recommend it.

And maybe I shouldn't have started listening to our September BOM book The Hardest Thing: A Dan Stagg Mystery by James Lear right after Backtrack because it feels so over the top to me that I have difficulties to handle it. :-)

So, I had to backpaddle a bit and I decided to reread some Josh and Tove Jansson's The Summer Book instead to make the landing smoother. It's working very well so far. ;-)

Yes, going from Hansen to James Lear needs a buffer. They're both so good but so absolutely different. Lear is "loud" and completely over the top (in a really good way, at least imo), while Hansen is quiet and intense.

I loved The Summer Book! It's a bit like a treasure chest, isn't it? :-)

I stayed up late last night finishing A Forbidden Rumspringa. I was a little hesitant to read this one but I thought it was really well done. I loved David and Isaac. I noticed some reviews mentioned it ends on a cliffhanger, but it's not really a cliffhanger. I thought the ending was fine. The author says the second book is coming out next year. Can't wait!

I'm currently reading Double Up by Vanessa North. Fun so far. :-)

13 days and counting on A Game of Thrones. At 82% now. I wonder how much of the remaining 18% is book and how much is back matter and appendices and stuff. A book like this is definitely the appendices type.

Just checked. I have equivalent of 132 pages of actual book to go before the appendix starts.

I will want to read something short and fluffy after this.

Being old and cynical ;) I believe even HEA is really HFN, the future is uncertain, that is a real certainty. But HFN is fine with me, then there is hope.
