What Are you Reading?

I think it sounds good (added to my wish list - thanks Ame!), but I like m/f romance, too. :)
I did have a "You know you read too much M/M romance when..." moment this morning. I'm listening to Robyn Carr's The Wanderer (m/f romance) which is very enjoyable so far, but I got distracted thinking that the MC, Cooper, and his new friend Mac would make a great couple. Coop, who has come to town to see if his good friend's death was really an accident, has already gotten friendly with Mac, the sheriff, and had dinner with Mac's family and he hasn't even met his female love interest yet. :-D Alas, I guess they will just be buddies....

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Make Do and Mend, Marge. And great review, by the way! :-)
ETA: I also added Stage Whispers to my to-read shelf. Thank you for the recommendation.

So now you have 401 unread books... and I thought I was hopeless! *big grin*

I would say that don't start reading next Henry Rios book The Death of Friends right away then, dear Ije. I've been listening to it yesterday and today and all the parts with Josh in them make me cry or at least bring me on the verge of tears — and I'm only 3 hours into the 7-hour-book. The writing is brilliant, but it's making me incredibly sad.

A more cheerful story I just finished is Julie Bozza's A Threefold Cord. This is a nice menage — I agree with everything Anne and Susinok (and others) have said about this one before.

That's odd. I've definitely read Death by Misfortune in e-format.

Maybe the contract ran out and not taken up again, but there are used paperbacks on Amazon, so I've added a pretty please on my wishlist

Wow, 350--400 books? I wouldn't be able to stand it. I remove them and put them in a "maybe later" file, where they will probably stay forever.

I wouldn't label it as a romance despite the title. It's a drama... even a classic... I'm not good at labeling books. Anyway, I read everything...;)

I feel like I have to make it clear it's not a romance, so no one gets disappointed. I guess is should be labelled drama and also classic. It is after more than 40 year old story ;)

They are either in the to-read folder, or not moved to the folder yet (hence my being unclear on the exact amount, my to-read list on GR says 409, but that includes wishlist and maybe)

They're all people, in love!

I win! :)
95% of them are unread. Some are favorite re-reads. Having that many unread is not stressful to me. I see it as opportunity to read whatever I want, whenever I want. At my reading speed this is about 1.75 year's worth.

LOL! Well done!
But reading about the number of your unread books makes me feel less of a book-hoarder, which might be a bad idea...
lol, I've got about 85 unread books on my kindle. I read a few, then find I can afford to buy more books, or authors put out new books I must have and so I buy a few more to make up for what I've read.
Now, my coffee table on the other hand, I can't begin to count what's on there. But I'd guess around 75 at least. If not more.
So, yeah, I'm not as bad as some of you guys, but to me, it's still pretty bad. lol.

It is a subjective impression.
BTW when I talk about unread books here, I talk only about m/m, not about all other books...

I was very surprised to see this was the author's first published work. Quite good, very creative, and recommended.

Thanks for the recommend. I've read a dozen or so of this year's stories, but so far nothing has struck me like some of last year's (Nor Iron Bars a Cage; Treasure).

That is the difficulty. If you explain everything, it is going to be slow-moving at first. If you don't explain everything, readers will be confused.
And sometimes of course they will be both confused and find it slow-moving. :-D

I saw an article the other days which described this sort of thing -- in joke references in books -- as "Easter eggs".

Even more amazing is that I was making probably 90% of the family's weekly bread when I had a toddler and an infant and a kindergartener.
Anyway, mid-year resolution: MAKE MORE BREAD.

Do we have a count of how many non-AE books include a reference to Adrien's bookstore? There's one in All She Wrote, and references in two of the books from Meg Perry's Jamie Brodie series. Where else? One of Lou Harper's books?

Oddly enough, I love reading cookbooks, even when I have no intention of actually *making* anything from them. I love cook books and also books with knitting patterns in them. I always buy one or the other on book sales. If I should cook and knit as much as the books suggest I do, I could feed and clothe most of Norway, I think ;)

It's out?!
I've been waiting for that book. I have the first two in audio but I guess this will be one that I'll own in both ebook and audio (I have no selfdiscipline when it comes to buying books).

I created a list for books with AE-references here. Could you maybe add them? :-)
