What Are you Reading?
Nice!
I've had them do things like that for me, though it was for a watch band that didn't fit my watch. I didn't get a replacement, but they let me keep the band and reimbursed me for it.

Hey, it's a collector's item! :-)
I am finally reading Kitto by Harper Fox, which I can't pull up here for some reason. So far it's very good, as I figured it would be.
I read Once Upon A Haunted Moor - very nice. I'll have to continue the series soon.I'm currently re-reading Muscling Through since I haven't re-read it in a while.
I recently read Better than Friends (WTH is wrong with GR - I can't add this one either) which features an age gap - one of my favorite tropes. I have read a lot of them but am always on the lookout for more. Anyone have any favorites to rec?
I guess I can always read the I Spy series again. Not a hardship. ;-)
I have totally fallen for Nick Nowack.... just bought the second one as a audiobook Boystown 2: Three Nick Nowak Mysteries
I'm currently going through these https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...Too many DNFs and not enough 3+ stars :-(
At least I got them at the low pre-order price
Ame wrote: "I have totally fallen for Nick Nowack.... just bought the second one as a audiobook Boystown 2: Three Nick Nowak Mysteries"I was thinking of listening to this series as well. Do you like the narrator?
Yes I do. Not as good as Chris Patton and Kevin R. Free but good non the less. Better than the one narrating Better than good.
Ame wrote: "Yes I do. Not as good as Chris Patton and Kevin R. Free but good non the less. Better than the one narrating Better than good."I have SO many audiobooks to get through but I might try the first one in this series soon since it is cheap with Whispersync. :)
Susinok wrote: "I am finally reading Kitto by Harper Fox, which I can't pull up here for some reason. So far it's very good, as I figured it would be."''Pull up'' like this: Kitto? I'm trying to wait and buy it when I have time to read it.

Muscling Through was the first JL Merrow i read, and i absolutely loved it! I generally enjoy her sense of humor but this was the best so far for me, followed by Pressure Head.
Antonella wrote: "Calathea wrote: "Hey, it's a collector's item! :-) "Would you like it?"
Um, no. I'm not in the market to get my heart ripped out by a story. And WWII is so not my time for settings anyway.
Thank you for the nice offer though! That was very kind. :-)

I've re-read Muscling Through about 10-15 times. I love it. It's the most re-read m/m title (for me), so far.
I finished reading/listening to Gatsby, and re-read JCP's Tainted for group's series read. Last night I read Chain of Fools (Donald Strachey #6).
I'm also reading Kitto today. Antonella, how did you access that link? I'm having the same issue that Susinok had, and I had to go through some hoops to find it for my "My Books" list.

I enjoyed Pressure Head and have Relief Valve in my TBR pile.

I re-read Pressure Head just before Relief Valve came out, and enjoyed it even more on the re-read, but i was a bit disappointed with Relief Valve. It felt like it had a lot of potential but was way too long. But that might be just me not having patience when a character goes on and on with the internal chat, and the thing is there were really good bits in there. So i guess i should have approached it with more patience :-) still, a good read.
Yeah Kitto still does not come up, but I was able to use your link to get it onto my currently reading group.

I hope my explanation explains ;-).

Thanks! I tried your suggestion, going to author and then back to books and got the link Kitto on the second page. But when I tried what I usually do, combining book and author, I got these results (see below). Maybe there's some glitch in the links?

I think it's a real tour de force by J.L. Merrow. So clever, the way we can tell what Larry is thinking by seeing and hearing him through Al's POV, even when Al himself is oblivious.

Mabe there's some glitch in the links?"Maybe I didn't explain exactly, because I've just tried it and it works...
1) You start with the function add book/author, appearing on top of the comment window
2) A window appears:
Add a reference:
book / author
you insert the name of the book and find out that there are to many pages there
3) then you insert the name of the author, and click on search, you find Harper Fox
4) you don't click now on add, but you click on top changing from
Add a reference:
author
to
Add a reference:
book
5) Books for: Harper Fox
will appear, so it is much easier to find Kitto and add it.

Not at all, I didn't explain myself well. I tried what you suggested with your first set of instructions and it worked. I just was trying to say that I was surprised that what I usually do didn't work for this book, either in the "add book/author" window or in the search window for "My Books." Your instructions were very clear. : )

Very little heart-ripping required.
Make Do and Mend is a great book. No high dramas, no battles, nobody getting outed and having problems. It's more of a quiet tale of how the general populace--real people--dealt with the day to day privations of WWII, and how they just got on with what they needed to do to keep things going.
The only real angst comes from the accident which wounded the main character, but even that was a while before the start of the book. This and Stage Whispers are my two favorite Adam Fitzroy books, both of them 5 stars from me.
Here's my review if you're interested: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Pearl by Kelly Rand the other day and really enjoyed it. It's a short story set in the queer 1920s and I thought it was well done. It's short, under 10,000 words, but it packs in an interesting romance-mystery story. I will say no more and so will not give anything away. ;)

I like the narrator. Pleasant voice. No problems at all.
I am a quarter into Kirith Kirin after it was so warmly recommended in this group. I have read a couple other books by Jim Grimsley before and liked them very much, so thought I should give his fantasy a trial. As most fantasy books, it is a little slow at the start, since the author usually have to cram a lot of information in the first chapters to establish the world and the magic system, but now it flows beautifully. The language is lovely and the story fascinating. One irritant though, the book suffers from some bad editing, mainly missing words, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying it immensely.

I have about 350-400 unread books on my Kindle

Thank you for reassuring me and for the review, dear Marge!

I like it too, the second in the series even more, though. I wish there was more of Bill Turner.

Thanks, Marge! I'm generally weary about historicals and this time especially because I don't see how there can be a HEA. Only recently Joanna Chambers' Enlightened-series convinced me that it is possible.

I don't have book 2 :-(
*Adds to wishlist*
Have you ever read Love Story? I've read it many times over the years, never saw the movie though. It's a story that even though I've read it many times and know exactly what happens I cry ALL THE TIME. I can't help it. It's like it turns on some button that says "cry now".
Such a beautiful story.

I know I am in good company here. I recently organized my Kindle collections and deleted a bunch of books I will probably never read. I still have over 450 in my TBR folder. Some are free fics and fanfics and a lot were bought at a good discount but all are books I do really want to read. :-)
I just finished reading The Hidden Law and I thought it was great although I guessed who did the murder. It has such a sad closing scene and I just finished reading Full Circle which was brilliant but also dealt with the early days of the AIds pandemic. I am going to read something light and fluffy next. I have some books by Paul Monette and I want to read them over the summer. Some of his books deal with death and loss from Aids so I am bracing myself. But before that lots of fluffy reads for me.

I got it today. At first I saw that the cover was upside down, and I thought that I didn't want to be fussy about it. But then I realised that the whole book was inverted: you usually turn the pages moving them from right to left, and here it was the other way round.
I was already pissed at the idea of having to go the post office to send back the book. So I asked online amazon.de to call me: in 5 minutes I got a replacement organised. I don't even have to send back the weird book. Wow!
