Kathy (semi-hiatus) Hello everyone! Just noticed that I forgot to introduce myself all these weeks since joining the group. I’m Kathy, a bookworm, soon-to-be law student, and a newbie reviewer. I read mostly historical/literary fiction, non-fiction, and essay/letter collection, but I’m pretty much open to all genres except for business&tech and self-help.
Looking forward to reviewing your works in the future!

Hi, Kathy. I think my debut novel would be something that might tickle your fancy. Here's the link so you can check out the blurb etc: GOLD!
There's a new cover on the way, as I've been told this one makes it look a bit like a ‘how-to’ book on gold mining. It definitely isn't!
Message me if you're interested and I'll send you an EBOOK or PDF. Many thanks.

Hi Kathy,

I hope you’ll consider reviewing my latest novel, and winner of the Literary Titan Golden Book Award, “Yuri & the Pig” (87,000 words [282 pages] published by Wild Wolf Publishing on September 1, 2023), a work of fiction based on the current war in Ukraine. However, the countries involved are fictitious, too.

Some excerpts from editorial reviews:
“C W Lovatt's storytelling is masterful…” ~ Readers’ Favorite
“Lovatt's novel is a literary gem …” ~ A Look Inside
“A genuinely thought-provoking novel, it beckons readers to reflect on the intricate dance of life, growth, and self-discovery.” ~ Literary Titan

The following is the blurb:

“From the best-selling author of the Charlie Smithers adventures.

A farmer and his pig set off on an extraordinary quest across war-torn Eastern Europe.

Entangled in a savage war, the country of Xoraina is fighting for its very existence; but to Yuri, a simple peasant from a remote mountain village, it seems all but certain that the invading Zlaimperians must ultimately prevail. Not that it is of any consequence to him, of course. In Yuri’s view, every form of government is equally bad, so it makes very little difference who holds the reins of power. Indeed, throughout time, the only things that have ever really mattered are that the soil be tilled, the cows milked, and the pigs shipped to market, all in a timely fashion.

But when an exorbitant new tax threatens that philosophy, he sets off with his pig across the war-ravaged land to the Capital in order to fight the injustice. In the process, their journey becomes a road to a terrible enlightenment, causing Yuri to question his deeply seated beliefs. But only when he and his pig find themselves placed squarely in destiny’s path is there any hope of those questions finding answers.”

If interested, please contact me at clovatt@xplornet.ca and I’ll arrange for you to receive an e-copy in the format you prefer.

Thank you for your time.

Wells Carroll | 3 comments Kali Rises: Marauding Stars Book 1

I'm Wells Carroll... and I am not a person. Honest. I am a pen name for a group of writers, retired military officers and sci-fi geeks who had a crazy concept. Let's write an 8-book sci-fi series called Marauding Stars. It's about societal fears. You know, things like climate change, AI singularity, genetic manipulation, societal injustice, economic crashes and many, many more.

My boss at Stellar Nursery Media said it's okay to ask for reviewers who would like to review Kali Rises: Marauding Stars Book 1 (electronic format). It is available on Kindle Unlimited for free.

If you aren't a member on Amazon then please email my boss at bbsmart@stellarnursery.net. Let him know you'd like to review the book. Also, please tell him if you would prefer mobi or ePub format.

Here's a quick blurb from the back cover:

Ad astra per aspera….

Reaching the stars comes with a price, one Marcus Kenzie is willing to pay. Manipulative, possessed, driven… he’s also not above letting others pay the cost for him.

Haley Brandt just wants out of the murderous slum world she’s trapped in… and wonders how many bodies have to drop to escape her hell.

Keeping his promise to his dead wife means retired SEAL Jason Cobbler needs a reason to get up every morning… yet breaking his word is so tempting.

A seasoned combat reporter, Cara Abrams has seen true evil. Yet when Marcus Kenzie offers a personal interview, she senses it comes with a catch.

And at the California Artificial Life Initiative, an insane life form has broken free to the internet as Kali Rises.

Thank you in advance for assisting us with your professional reviewing skills!

T.R. Schenk | 1 comments My name is Tom Schenk and I'm embarrassingly new and naive regarding how things work on goodreads. Kind of like showing up at a party alone and not knowing a single person in the room.

I just published my first book called Uncomfortable Wolves on KDP a week a week ago. It is a dystopian story, but set only a few years into a very recognizable future. Here's a blurb:

In the spirit of classic westerns, but in the realistic setting of today's world devolving into social and economic chaos, everyman Lucas Mitchell is a widowed loner who flees the anarchy in Seattle for his remote Montana ranch - only to bitterly discover it occupied by squatters - a stranded woman and her infant.

Soon, his troubles compound when a draconian new debt-repayment law conscripts Lucas into the U.S. Marshals against his will. He is partnered with Clayton, a stoic Coeur d’Alene Indian and ex-Navy Seal. Their prime directive is to restore order - at any cost. Law will come later.

On his first mission, they are tasked with escorting a vital supply convoy through the mountains. Hidden in a driving blizzard, bandits lie in wait to hijack their precious cargo. Far away and in the middle of a gun battle, Lucas misses a message. It was a desperate plea for help that sinister forces have descended on his unguarded home.

Seeking redemption from his personal demons as he clashes with the wolves of society, Lucas must confront the razor-thin line between civilization and savagery. As the lawlessness and rage grows everywhere, Lucas recalls his partner's warning, “Everyone has a limit, a threshold, some point beyond which they become too... uncomfortable. That's when their inner wolf will emerge.”

I would be honored to have others here read and review. I can send the file in any format you'd prefer. Thanks in advance.

I am a newly published author. My newly published book of poetry (and a bit of prose towards the end) has just been published on Amazon, "Fifty poems of Love, Death, Disdain & Five Excerpts from a Diary of Delirium and Despair", under the pen name "Philip Traum", (yes, yes, from Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger"). Yes, loads of fun, as you can tell from the title, lol. But the truth is - it's not all dark, not by a long shot.

I too am looking for some lovely people who might be interested in reading it and giving it an honest review. As in - I'd send you the proof of the text and cover for nuttin', ha.

Have a good day.

Cheers,

Mostly I have written tabletop RPG books, and am currently working on my magnum opus "The Harrowed Earth". However, I just published a tie-in for it called "Fallen Off the Bifrost", book 1 of the "Jormungandr" series.

Jacklyn Lo (jacklyn_a_lo) | 11 comments Jacklyn A. Lo Greetings, fellow book lovers!
I'm excited to announce that my new novel "Melissa" is set to launch at the end of July! As a sci-fi author, I love crafting thought-provoking tales that explore free will, destiny, and the power of choice.

"Melissa"Melissa takes a chilling dive into the depths of ambition, promising to be a thought-provoking psychological thriller with a sci-fi twist.

"Melissa" actually began its journey as a screenplay titled "The Return of Melissa" before evolving into this novel. If you enjoyed my debut time-travel adventure "Redemption," I think you'll find "Melissa" equally captivating, though in different ways.
I'm reaching out today with two exciting opportunities:

Join our "Melissa" ARC (Advance Reader Copy) team: https://rbjal.com/melissa-arc
or
Simply receive a FREE e-book on launch day: https://rbjal.com/melissa-sign-up

If either of these options interest you, please let me know! I'd love to have you be part of this journey.

message 1434: by Anita (new)

Anita Knowles | 1 comments Hi there!

I'm Anita Knowles author of erotica short story Majula: Shadows Don't Judge.

Majula Shadows Don't Judge (Part 1) by Anita Knowles

Here's the blurb - Majula finds comfort in shadows. Since when? She doesn't know. Her best guess? When she and her mother—the family—upgraded their neighborhood and got used to looking below at the city from the thirtieth floor of their towering apartment building.

So what?

Wrong question.

She believes it has something to do with a saying she must have heard when she was a child.

If you don't want to get bored of people, change them.

Somehow, it slid into her subconscious and got imprinted on her mind. But not before she put her own unique spin to it.

If you don't want to get bored of people, don't know them.

Now, when she looks down below at the sprawling city, she finds it shadowed by their sheer verticality. And in the shadows, she sees a world unto itself, a world where she can be anyone and anything. A nobody in a sea of the unknown. And no one needs to find out. No one needs to see.

No one needs to know. Where she goes. What she does.

Your feedback is appreciated
Many Thanks
