message 1162: by C.J. (new)

C.J. McKivvik | 2 comments Hi everyone I'm CJ! I live in a small village in Ontario, Canada. When I'm not writing I'm thinking about writing, and/or running, and/or swimming and/or walking in the fields and forests. Like many Canadians, I am passionate about hockey and have a love-hate relationship with winter.

I just published my first novel, "The Secret of Immortality: The Tombmakers Village", an action/adventure/mystery. In it, Tom Carrott’s life turns into chaos when the director of his university research group drops dead while giving a speech, leaving the group unexpectedly bankrupt.
Tom stands to lose everything he cares about until an ancient Egyptian chest arrives on his doorstep, with a note from beyond the grave. Tom embarks on a dangerous and life-changing adventure in pursuit of the secret of immortality, with a fake researcher, the CIA, a beautiful Mossad agent named Eshe and a ruthless billionaire who will stop at nothing to obtain the secret.

Lies, friendship, love, danger, and greed are intertwined as Tom and Eshe race to solve the mystery before they lose everything, including their lives.

I would love to get some feedback and can't wait to join the conversations!

Thanks!

message 1163: by Declan (new)

Declan Ellis | 1 comments Hi guys,

I'm Declan. I write short stories (but so far none of my work has been published yet). I'm pretty new to book reviewing. However, I'd love to review any books people are needing reviews for, especially if you're willing to provide a free copy.

I read a wide variety of stuff, but mostly sci-fi, fantasy and historical fiction (although I stick away from the romancy side of this genre). I also read literary works and tend to stick away from most YA (although there are exceptions).

Please take a look at my website: www.roseauburn.com for review policy/submission guidelines, blog, writing and contact information. Thank you!

Nancy Bruen Hi,
My name is Nancy, and I am a retired reading and writing teacher. I'm also a passage and item writer for state and national assessments. I recently started reviewing books, and I am really enjoying it. This is the first time in 30 years of teaching that I finally have a chance to sit down and read a novel by choice. What fun! In the past, and I only had time to read what I was going to teach. With six different reading classes every day, I often taught six books at a time. Crazy!

Eva Sandor (evasandor) | 3 comments Hey everyone, I'm Eva, wading into Goodreads a little at a time and looking to give people ARC's in preparation for launching my very first novel out into the vastness of space.

I won't blather on about myself except to say that I like to cook and eat, run the half marathon, goof around with horses, build stuff, and learn as much as I can about anything and everything. I'm an illustrator most of the time, but I also used to write advertising copy-- which I believe counts as especially creative fiction.

Anyhow! Hi!

I'll pitch my book in a post tomorrow, in the appropriate genre (comic fantasy). Nice to meet this crew and I hope I can give a bunch of you a bunch of laughs-- and hit you smack in the feels, too.

I was an elementary school teacher. I have experience teaching Grades 4, 5 and 6. I also taught three different types of Special Education classes in my career. I love teaching and I love writing. I wrote my first two children's books before I left teaching. Then wrote two more books, about bullying, since then.

S.J. Lowe Greetings, everyone! I'm Scott, a novelist into "literary" comedy/satire (whatever that means). My debut series novel is The Tiny Fiancé. If you like to laugh, give it a read. If you don't like to laugh or don't know how, you need to read it. All proceeds for all of my books benefit charity in 2020. You get to laugh out loud (maybe even spew coffee) and do something good for someone else! What a world! Cheers!

message 1178: by ryu欣 (new)

ryu欣 Hi. I’m Emily and I think life is meaningless without books. I read mostly YA and Fantasy, but it’s easy for me to get lost in books of any kind. (Most of the time.) I’m still learning how to review, but I hope I’m getting better at that. I sometimes read too fast for me to review every single book I read, so when I do I either; 1) Have nothing else to read, or 2) I really like this book.

Hope this group will help me learn some more skills (for reviewing )!

message 1179: by J.P. (new)

J.P. Kobel | 1 comments I’m J. P. Kobel. I’m a writer that has just attempted my first novel. I usually write about non-fiction subjects like economics, politics, and law. Writing a novel about any of these subjects would make for a boring read. Yet, these subjects are the underlying messages of this novel.

To spice up this novel, I put the economic/political messages into a story of two parallel realities: one dystopian and the other utopian. The dystopian ‘outside-world’ is led by Trump who has been made dictator for life by an all-Republican Congress. The outside-world is a land of false-flag operations, pandemics (worse than COVID-19), the medical-industrial complex, modern fascism, mind-control, eugenics, puppet-masters, mysterious deaths, a new world order, underground bases, secret prisons, nuclear war, massive social unrest, and worse. As Al Gore once said about America in the 2010s, “It’s like the nightly newscasts are a nature walk through the Book of Revelation from the Christian Bible.”

The ‘Community’ experiences a completely different reality. It is a utopia. I finished writing about a month ago and I’m anxious to get deeper into writing Book 2 of this trilogy.

One of the primary messages of the book is to protect democracy in America. With an election coming soon, I hope it can influence a few voters.

I would love some honest reviews and am happy to give the eBook to any interested reviewers. The book is The Rise and Fall of Trump. I hope you all like it!

E.S. Hazard (eshazard) | 5 comments I am writing. My objective is to write something that a reader would find entertaining, and something to take their mind off their troubles. The story is the most important element to me. I would rather be a terrible writer and have a great story idea than be the best writer writing the most boring story. Hopefully, my stories are worth reading.

Marc Fienberg | 2 comments Hello everybody!

If you’re a teenager (or the parent of a teenager) that wants to get happy, be successful, and make good decisions, then I'd love to send you a free ARC of my latest book, Dad’s Great Advice for Teens.

What kind of crazy father actually advises teens to…
• Ignore their parents (if what their parents want doesn’t mesh with what they want)
• Do dumb, risky things (as long as they’re not really dumb things)
• Ignore everything their boyfriend/girlfriend says (and focus on what they do)
• Dump their friends (if they aren’t the type of people they want to become)
• Drink, vape, and do drugs (in a smart, disciplined way, and only if they’re determined to not wait)
• Have sex (only if their heart and brain tell them they’re ready)

Dad’s Great Advice for Teens talks to teens on their own level without being preachy or unrealistic, but doesn’t pull any punches.

Dad’s Great Advice for Teens includes 25 short pieces of Great Advice, filled with humor, wisdom, and inspirational quotes, to keep the attention of even the most distracted teen. It's the perfect self-help survival and success guide for teens looking to build positive habits and get an edge up, and it’s a great gift from Dad, Mom, or anybody.

Interested in getting a free Advance Reader Copy? Email me at marc@greatadvicegroup.com and I’ll send you a Kindle link (or whatever format you prefer) to the book.

Best,
Marc

Cece ❀Rants, Raves &Reviews❀ | 2 comments Hi all, I'm Cece from Portland, and I write reviews here on goodreads.

I love to rant, rave and review character developments, world building, comedy/banter, & writing style (did u give me goosebumps/shock me/plot twists) in the books I read

I like to give honest feedback, while also taking a more “standup comedy routine” in my reviews to engage with readers, so I incorporate a lot of GIFs and quotes to have some fun with it. Excited to be active with the group!

K.R. Fraser (krfraser) | 6 comments Hello everyone, my name is KR Fraser and I'm an author new to Goodreads. I've been in the industry for years, writing magazine and news articles, as well as poetry. But recently, I finally broke the ice and released my first novel. In the middle of that release last year, however, I landed in the hospital fighting for my life for months because of a serious injury and subsequent infection in my heart. So promotion on book one never truly happened. I am now working on that, and working on the final touches of Book two's release. I'm still learning all about Goodreads and how it works, and could use some friendly help from fellow Goodreads users.

Book one was only released in print last year, but is going to ebooks this month, so if anyone wants to review it, I'd happily welcome it. I'm looking forward to finding new things to read here as well, since I pretty much killed off my TBR pile while I was recovering in the months following my health issues. I'm always open to pointers, and I have a lot of my own knowledge to bring to the group. So I look forward to meeting everyone.

Kate

Natasha Mills | 13 comments I'm new to good reads. I'm a children's author of Mr. Broccoli a book on nutrition for children with fun imaginative superhero veggie characters.
I would like to seek reviews for my book "Mr. Broccoli, from a series of up and coming books of Veggie Adventures.

Mr. Broccoli is the tale of a young boy, Jacob, who is feeling sad and fed up. Through discovering the health benefits of eating his greens, he becomes stronger and more confident. Anti-bullying is also an important theme in the story, to help children learn to respect others and feel more confident in themselves. Mr Broccoli is a character who already has that confidence, and later becomes a role model figure.

The book is available on Amazon Kindle:

If anyone is interested to read and share their review on Goodreads and Amazon, I can send the PDF copy directly.

Elliot Brent (penmanshipeb) | 1 comments Hello to all, I'm fairly new here, but I am not to writing. Writing takes me away and has been therapy for me. Thus, I'm a poet author and blog a little. However, I am a reader because I'm a lover of truth. So, because of my reverence of truth, I have an intrigued interest in knowledge.:
Anyhow, my content meets with depth, while its endeavor is to enlighten and to uplift. I write Christian nonfiction, so most books that I read are either history, nonfiction, or biography: because life, in general, intrigues me.
