Ross Ponderson | 7 comments Greetings, everyone!

I'm a retired IT guy with my first novel on Amazon and my 2nd crawling along through its 1st draft.

My stories chronicle ordinary women meeting extraordinary challenges head-on with extraordinary strength and courage. Overcoming will likely be the principal theme of every book I write as I feel very strongly that it's a truly universal theme with which many readers can relate.

Looking forward to networking with you and lending an idea or an opinion when I can.

Have a great week!

Alexa (alexablaise) Hello all! I'm a new addition to the group.

I enjoy reading very much, and it usually spurs me to write a few things here and there as well. I've been delving into erotic romance lately, especially enjoying the books that feature raw, complex, and flawed characters.

Very excited to be exposed to new reads and writers here!

Sharon Cho (wovenmyths) | 2 comments Hi All,

My debut novel, "A Slice of Quietude" (Woven Myths #1) just came out last month. I've been emailing tons of reviewers and have gotten some reviews already (and have been promised some more) but one's debut novel can always use more, right? Hoping to make some connections here.

Thanks,
Sharon

Mia Soul | 4 comments Hi Jackie
I just uploaded my novel the Rum Runner's Woman. Thank you for providing this opportunity.
I'm still learning to navigate the Goodreads site. My novel is on Amazon. If you check it out you will see I really need some reviews. My novel represents five years of historical research and hours and hours of rewrites and edits. I published my best. I hope the Goodreads community will help me become a successful author. Thanks again.

Mia Soul | 4 comments Jackie wrote: "I have read some romance books that are kind of graphic, but it all depends on how graphic your books are. I don't know, is there someone out there who knows the exact definition of Erotica? not m/..."<
An erotic romance describes the scene without using the dirty words, or the anatomically correct terms typical in Erotica. I'd also say there is a strong story leading up to "the scene" and by then at least one of the characters is in love. I found the scenes difficult to write because there's the risk of sounding corny or ridiculous while keeping the text R rated as opposed to X.

Jo Hayve (JoBHayve) | 4 comments Hello all! I'm just starting to read this group to see what it offers. Here's to many meaningful interactions.

I'm Jo, although obviously that's a pen name. My real name is Joby. I write and read anything, but my first novel turned into erotica quite without my expectation, and barely with my permission, so the pen name is for a few erotica novels I have planned or written.

Interesting discussion above, about the difference between erotica and erotic romance. I tried to write well, and not write like a cheap porn clip, so I use explicit anatomical words when they work, and metaphors when that seems appropriate, and tried to have a story and purpose beyond the obvious physical escapades of the traditional erotica story. So I'm not sure exactly how my book fits in. I'm generally calling it erotica for now, but to me the explicit scenes are to my book what explicit violence scenes are to thrillers or detective or fantasy novels. They aren't the main purpose of the story.

Anyway, that's me. My book is "Inside Charlotte," on Amazon. I also love to write reviews, and plan to do a bit more of it as soon as I get the time to read enough to review. Until then, I hope to enjoy a few discussions around here.

Love,

Jo.

J. Lynne Hello! My pen name is J. Lynne but call me Jennifer. I've been writing since I was in fifth grade where I wrote a play with a friend about a scary haunted house. I just recently self published my first short story for the kindle that is a YA dark fantasy. I am working on a few more short stories to publish until I move on to novellas. I've been enjoying discovering other indie authors and reading/reviewing their work honestly.

Nancy Glynn (nancyglynn) | 12 comments Hi everyone!

I've self-published my debut novel, Black 21, and a short prequel, Rose's Sin, in May and June. I'm making my short story of 37 pages perma-free (free on all other retailers) and will soon be on Amazon. I have 3 great reviews so far for Black 21, two of them from Goodreads readers, and am hoping to garner more. Six reviewers now have a free copy and hoping to hear soon.

I write supernatural love stories with a good vs. evil theme, darkening souls, and tortured love. I'm just drawn to that stuff. No sweet romances for me! Now that I'm learning more, a couple of my scenes might even border on erotic romance that I've been told were tastefully done. There's also a mystery mixed in it as well. I love writing (and reading) fast-paced stories.

If anyone's interested in reviewing, I can give you a link to download any version you need. Also looking to make more friends on GR, so friend me! :)

Looking forward to being part of this group!

Nancy

J.R. Bournville (jrbournville) | 2 comments Hello, one and all.

I finally took the leap into the realm of the self-published writer in May. So far I have two books to my name; my short story A Humourless Death and as a contributor to the flash-fiction anthology Prompted Musings

I love to read, as I'm sure many others here do as well. I also enjoy landscape photography and would do (almost) anything for a good cup of coffee.

My hopes for joining this group are to see if anyone would like to review either of my books (in PDF or Mobi format). If that's you, then please get in touch! You can reach me here, on Facebook or through my website.

Thank you, and have a great day!

Good day, all...

This is my first post here – I'm delighted to meet you all.

I'm Isabella Lamont, a brand new member of Goodreads and an aspiring writer of romantic erotica. I like to write the same kind of stories that I like to read – with good solid plots and well developed characters. And of course, really hot action that tells us even more about the characters.

I guess what I need more than anything right now, are some opinions. Am I wasting my time? Is my work even remotely readable and enjoyable?

You'll find my two stories here at Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...). There is considerably more detail and extracts from each of them at my blog here (http://isabellalamont.tumblr.com/).

If you'd like to review one, I'd be absolutely delighted to email you copy. (I have them in most of the common formats: EPUB, PDF, MOBI).

I will be eternally grateful for your opinions (and will quickly return the favor, if you like).

Many thanks
Isabella

Ingrid Banwell | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

My name is Ingrid Banwell. I’ve just joined this group and this is my first post. I feel as though I’m a huge learning curve here!

I’m a first time Goodreads author and reader and was wondering if there’s anyone out there who likes face-paced historical fiction with a good dose of controversy and a soaring (and, picking up on the previous conversations - erotic!) romance.

If this sounds like something that might interest you, I’d be delighted to send you a free copy of my eBook The Infidel’s Garden ( mobi or epub) in exchange for an honest review.
The Infidel's Garden

You can reply to me via Goodreads or email me on ingrid.banwell@gmail.com.

If you want to find out a little more, on my author page there are links to my two blogs plus the youTube trailer I had fun making for the book. You’ll see I’ve had a few lovely reviews already, but I’d really, really appreciate a few more!
The blog for the book ( I've had lots of questions from readers)is: www.theinfidelsgarden.com

Here’s the link to my author page: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I’d be thrilled and most grateful if anyone would be interested in taking a look.

Meanwhile, I look forward to hearing from you and joining in on the discussions!

Many thanks,

Ingrid

An english professor emailed me that Chapter 2 could be too hard to read, but an economics and politics professor in Adelaide actually finished reading in 10 days and left me a review here on goodreads. It's just the way i structured the book. But from Chapter 3 it's all easy reading.

A.C. Yates (motelwrestler) | 1 comments Hello folks,

To say that I am a new writer wouldn't be true. I have been keeping journals throughout most of my life. After losing both of my parents, I started thinking that future members of my family will never know them personally. So purely just as a family project (and seeking a cathartic outlet), I started writing down 500-1000 word memories. I plan to organize these and make a book one day to honor my mother who was truly a special human being.

But in doing so, I started writing about a two year period of my life that no one knew about. Something that I did just for me as I struggled to reconcile my faith and my sexuality. I found a website that put men and women together that wanted to wrestle. It ended up changing my perceptions of what it means to be a gay man as well as about myself.

I found a niche that is small but passionate. People liked what I wrote, so I started publishing. It's been fairly successful in its first 4 months. I am making mistakes and learning. And I hope that this experience will help me to grow as a writer and to learn how to be successful in putting my work in front of others for when I write what I think will be my ultimate work about my life and family.

For anyone interested, my first short e-book is Memoirs of a Motel Wrestler: A Peek into the Underground World of Private Wrestling I have subsequently followed that up with another short e-book inspired by my time as a "motel wrestler" and a fictional short story series on the same subject.

I look forward to getting to know you all and learning from you!

Maria Riegger | 17 comments Hi Everyone!

I'm Maria. I'm a corporate/banking attorney by day, and I write fiction novels in my "spare" time :) I've been writing my entire life, and am self-publishing my first novel in a couple of months! It's Miscalculated Risks (Law School Heretic Series, #1) by Maria Riegger

I'll have another book out next year, and a third out (hopefully) soon after that! I write women's fiction/chick lit with kind of an independent edge.

I read all genres, especially thrillers (including legal thrillers), chick lit, sci-fi, paranormal, historical fiction, etc.

If anyone has any questions on self-publishing, let me know! I'm no expert, but am learning a lot as I navigate that realm :)

Maria
