However, having an alpha-female instead of an alpha-male doesn't make it any better in my eyes ;) Seriously, this sounds far too much like an action-movie with a female Arnie Schwarzenegger in tungsten steel.
I really dislike the alpha trope.

I was more looking for some updated The Silver Metal Lover or romantic The Robots of Dawn alike.

I'll take older recs as well, it needn't be recently written, as long as it's decently written ;)
However, yes, I find the whole genre these days very hard to read. Apart from a few of the still producing older crowd, there seems to be little currently, in general, which doesn't follow the very exact same parameters in this genre. It's a pity. But maybe someone stumbles across this post who has an excellent rec? I'd take fanfic as well, if well-written and not the same-old, same-old.

Passion Model
The whole Cyberevolution series starting with Abiogenesis (ignore the awful covers the books are great)
The Iron Duke, more steampunk but he's been modified
C791
Seeing Stars
Those are just a few. I don't have my books delineated by robot/cyborg just sci-fi, but feel free to check that bookshelf for other ones.

How to Lose an Extraterrestrial in 10 Days this is part of a series by Susan Grant. It starts with Your Planet or Mine. The cyborg in this book is having "issues" with his implants, (they are failing) plus there is a look back at some of how he became a cyborg. But I am not totally sure if this meets your criteria, since I'm a tad bit confused.
And with the The Iron Duke recommendation--he is definitely a major Alpha Male. But that's ok, because Mina is an Alpha female and isn't going to put up with anything from him. However, I'm a big Meljean Brook fan, and I enjoyed the series immensely.

I hate the alpha-anything trope. It doesn't matter which gender, I dislike the trope which glorifies behaviour which is at the root of a lot of problems. It irritates me no end. Sorry. ;) I know it is a problem for recs.

THE PHOENIX CODE - Catherine Asaro (I'd start with this one if you haven't read it already)
SUNRISE ALLEY - Catherine Asaro
GAMES OF COMMAND - Linnea Sinclair
PARAGON - Aubrey Watt
BREAK AND ENTER - Aleksandr Voinov & Rachel Haimowitz (m/m; one of the heroes is a cybernetically enhanced)
UNACCEPTABLE RISK - Jeanette Grey (heroine is cybernetically enhanced)
THIS WINTER HEART - P.G. Forte (steampunk--can't say more because of spoilers)
MECHMAN - LJ Garland (fun little space opera story--better than what the cover promises. :))
THE WATCHMAKER'S LADY - Heather Massey (in the interest of full disclosure, that's me! Heroine is an automaton)
Hope that helps!
Steel--I know you said you didn't like the Alpha thing, but I do think you should read the Iron Duke series. I think that only that first book has "true" Alphas in it. Heart of Steel which is book 2, has the 2 leads locking horns a lot--but more because of a difference in view about how things should be done. Heart of Steel and #3 was, I hate to say it, but the one that I enjoyed the least.

About the other one I'm of two minds at the moment. I want a story which gives the protagonists at least equal attention. This one seems to revolve mostly around the girl, and the android is secondary, as is her relationship with him.
