Don Socha If this isn't the most important reflection since Auerbach's _Mimesis, on the quality of literature, I'd like to know what, if anything, is. Kleinberg-Levin has read widely and deeply. His writing is succinct and comprehensive and compelling with regard to questions not only of literature, but of its history and its connections to philosophy and critical thought from Plato to Holderlin, to Wittgenstein, to Benjamin and Blanchot.
