With multiple isbn's, first entered with isbn on goodreads keeps the isbn. Edition with duplicate isbn gets a librarian note and a note n the description field (isbn fields left blank). Duplicate isbn number policy covered in more detail in librarian manual.
Not sure about your DVD question; if a movie version of a book I do not think it should be added even if word for word. If just a narrator reading the book (just like for audio books only on DVD instead of CD), I'd add noting in a librarian note so that someone doesn't come along later and auto nab because a DVD.

(The term "book" applies to books in any format, including audiobook and ebook, not just print. If something isn't a book, then it shouldn't be combined with any actual books. In other words, the media type should always be "book" for records that you're creating, if they're valid. If you think something may not be a book, you can always post to this group with the specifics and get a consensus on it.)
If an item falls into multiple types of media, namely DVD, cassette tape, audio cd, and transcript books, how do we determine the original media format? The Great Courses, which are lectures on CD/DVD and not technically narrative, are the specific items in question here. They are on audio and video, but they are also in print. Technically, the print version is supplementary material, even though it is word for word. Since each format is an edition of the same work, how should media be handled (i.e. "book" vs "not a book") since that affects all editions?
On another note, how do we deal with two different formats that share an ISBN? One format (cassette) has gone out of print and been replaced by another (CD). Since there are Goodreaders who will have the cassette in their libraries, I'm not sure how to correct the issue.
Also, I know that DVDs are not technically supposed to be added, but what if the DVD content is exactly the same as the print and audio versions? Is there an exception, or should they be eliminated altogether? I've added some DVD versions and would be happy to delete them if this is an issue.
