Do our charries have to be approved! I'm so anxious to rp!

This is my basic gist of why it's bad without spoiling a bunch of stuff....:
This isn't the first time the S.S. Athena has had one of these contests or sales. They have one every few years, no one's given much thought on where the occupants from before have gone. Their loved ones, if they have any, see them for a bit before they disappear out of the blue, saying they want "to travel the world" or they "received a job offer in Antarctica/Africa/the Arctic".
Anyway, the new occupants of the S.S. Athena, board the ship, and nothing's wrong. They're told they'll be available to communicate with their family most of the time. People who are seen breaking odd rules that seem absurd to most people disappear and only a few people that were close to them seem to remember them. To everyone else, the memory of them has disappeared.
Eventually even the ones close to the missing people forget about them. This prevents people getting too curious about where they have gone.
However... sometimes... people don't forget them... They become aware of these disappearances and dangerous and curious thoughts appear in their minds.
Since all thoughts are monitored by the ships maintenance system and crew, these people start to come up on the radar and they usually disappear soon too.
But this time it's different, the crew is being careless and the ship's system updates have not been kept up to date with the crew back on earth that keeps updating and improving the system's software. These thoughts can now be hidden or just overlooked by the crew and system.
This may just be the last time the S.S. Athena sails through the stars.
