Two questions:
~can it stand alone as a story (if I haven't read books 1 & 2 first?
~can I have a short extension (coming in so late in the process)? I may not need it, as the story is short, but I hate to feel rushed.

That would be fine. I agree with Nour, the first two are not necessary.

Synopsis:
