Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments I just pushed the 'unpublish' button on my short story, 'Orlando's Gift'. It wasn't selling and I'm rewriting it as a novel anyway, so it seemed like a good idea.

Now, what do I do with it on Goodreads? Is there an unpublish button here, too?

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments Funny you should mention this, Katie. I've unpublished a book. I kept meaning to put a post on here to find out to erase the silly thing, so I'd be interested to find out too.

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments I don't think you do remove it from Goodreads - people who have read it will have it on their shelves.

Just searched through GR Librarians Group & found this answer on a question about removing books

Goodreads does not remove un-published or out of print books from the database. Think of it as a library, not a bookseller. Users have already read and reviewed your book and should be able to keep record of that even is the book is no longer available.

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments Ah, okay. That makes sense. So do we just remove the links to Amazon etc?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That would make sense I think Katie.

I'm glad that you are turning it into a novel, Katie - although I did enjoy reading it I did feel that the story could be longer. I'll look forward to reading it when it's available.

:0)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments Thanks, Karen. I think it will be better as a novel...but I've sort of got two or three stories intertwining in the novel, so it will be quite different.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Orlando's Gift was the first story of yours I read Katie.

It'll be fascinating to see how it changes.

Will you do a new cover for it too?

message 9: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments Yes, Patti, I'm pretty sure I will. Something to reflect the other part of the story as well. I enjoy doing covers so much; I wouldn't miss the chance to do another one! But first I have to write it!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I love your covers. You're so talented in so many ways. :)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments Thank you. Just don't ask me to cook, sew or dance!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Lol!

Oh reminds me. I took a photo of what Courtenay wrote about you for her exhibition. I'll email it now if the photo will attach.

Her display was the first one on the right in the corridor as you enter the school, so it's been seen by hundreds! Very cool.

Oh look. I've thread creeped another one. ;)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments That's clever, the way you drag these threads together! You'll knit a whole jumper out of them one day!

Thanks for the picture. It's lovely to be appreciated that way. If someone had told me that one day, my photo would be on display in Azerbaijan, I would have told them to stop eating those mushrooms!

I must get on and write her a review now that she's delisted me like I asked.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yes, I must do as well.
