Gen LaGreca | 56 comments I think that FreedomWorks, the national Tea Party group, has always been exceptional in that they've long recognized that the battle of ideas is not just confined to politics and economics, but includes art and culture. For example, they enthusiastically promoted the 2 movies of Atlas Shrugged. There are hints that other conservative/libertarian groups and donors are now realizing (after the GOP lost the last 2 presidential elections) that they have to try different means of communicating to a wider audience what personal liberty is and why it's so valuable to everyone.

Recently FreedomWorks interviewed me on the critical role of fiction in spreading the ideas of liberty. The interview appears in their latest newsletter, "Human Action," which was snail-mailed to donors. It's not yet posted online, but if anyone wants to read the interview, I can email you a jpg scan that I made of the page.

If anyone wants to learn more about FreedomWorks, the home page is: www.FreedomWorks.org. If the newletter posts online, I'll provide a link. Here's to us writers being more and more in demand!

Patrick Peterson (freedomworks) | 10 comments Neat Gen.

I've been a FreedomWorks fan every since they started the group with this name, and before, when a previous iteration had a different name: CSE (Citizens for a Sound Economy, and before that: CCE: Council for a Competitive Economy.

I had even used FreedomWorks as the name for my small consulting/fundraising services in the 80s and 90s! Well before the present FreedomWorks got started.

Only problem I see with them is that they seem to attract a very low level non-nothing type conservative these days, at least from what I can tell by the e-mail posts from other members out my way. Can't quite understand it, but it makes me sad.

Would love to read your interview if you would care to share. I believe you have my e-mail address.

Pat

I think now that FreedomWorks is a Rush Limbaugh advertiser, they will attract a more diverse crowd. By the way, never judge a group by website comments (just look at Breitbart.com's reader comments to see what I mean). I'm also pretty sure they had some power struggles in leadership not long ago, so it should be all better now.

Patrick Peterson (freedomworks) | 10 comments Thanks Masha, but I continue to get e-mail notices from local (SF Bay area) who are really nutty. VERY few from reasonable folks.

Gen LaGreca | 56 comments Pat, I'll send you the FreedomWorks interview by email.

A Dream of Daring just took Finalist in Multicultural Fiction in the 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, so (as Masha commented on my FB page) this may be the first book without leftist propaganda to win such an award. This underscores my point in the interview that fiction can reach out to minorities with a pro-liberty message!
