What to Read June 2013 - Moderator Pick has been chosen

Last year, the jury for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction selected three books for consideration, but the committee refused to award the prize to any of them. Our group has read two of those three books (The Pale King and Swamplandia!). Now we are completing the trifecta by selecting Train Dreams as one of our June reads.

It's been nominated a few times before, so there was already some evidence of demand. The book is also quite short, and with summer approaching that carries a bit of weight. And don't be thrown off by the fact that Goodreads automatically links to the German translation (I don't have an explanation for that). The author might be very cosmopolitan, but this is definitely a work of English literature.

That's one I would love to read as well, and it's been brought up enough times in our moderator discussions that I truly hope it becomes the official selection one of these months.
