Hi. I'm Ellie. I am a lover of science and history. I like reading about women's history and pretty much anything related to human rights.

Hi, I'm Richard (Thomas) and I live in Orkney, just outside Kirkwall. I am retired and live quietly with my dog, travelling south occasionally to see family and friendsMy interests are pretty wide. Specifically on history my main areas of reading are UK, European and American history, still following my degree studies. I also read books on politics, architecture, crime fiction (the UK golden age for preference), archaeology and some poetry. Largely I suspect because of my age, I prefer the printed word to electronic books although my kindle is grand when travelling as I don't have to lug my printed reading with me.
I have been working on my family history.
I look forward to contact with members and to discussions on matters of interest.
Hello and welcome, Jess. You sound like a real history lover and this is the place to be. Please browse the topics on our home page and find those that are of interest to you. The link is:https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.
This is how the book you mentioned should look:

Aaron, Amrina, Jamie, Jess, Richard, Cody, Desiree, Rivka, Holda, Jayanth, and Abu, welcome to the group.
Hi, all. I am Faith and I work for a human rights organisation. I mostly read historical fiction for leisure, but occasionally pick up historical accounts of armed conflict, mass atrocities, and general international politics in Southeast Asia (and, to some extent, the Middle East). Looking forward to the discussions!

Hi, My name is Rosa;I'm a teacher who lives in Arizona, originally from Chicago. I have an interest in many genres. I joined this group because I like to read historical fiction and biographies. In the past I've read a lot of British royal historical fiction but now that I'm semi-retired, with more leisure time,:) I'm ready to open myself up to reading more non-fiction. I like the Japan challenge as I love to travel & having never been to Asia, am excited to learn more about this part of the world. Who knows? I may even plan a trip there.I originally set my reading goal to 5 books but after perusing books with a Japan setting, I'm having a hard time just choosing five! I found a few fiction books, which I understand is acceptable for the challenge, but as this is a historical reading group, I'll be copying historical book suggestions that are listed on the threads and adding some of those. I'm very much looking forward to beginning my literary journey to Japan.
Hello, Rosa and thank you for a great introduction. Welcome to the place for the history lover. I am glad you have already found the Japan Challenge, so you might want to browse the rest of the home page and find other topics that you may find of interest. Hi! I'm SueAnn, and I really enjoy reading history, especially older versions that have not been altered to suit the politically correct climate of today. History is important to all of us, as it is repeated constantly due to those whom refuse to learn from it.
