Steve Anderson Hi all,

I'm from Portland, Oregon. I was a Fulbright Fellow in Munich, Germany for an MA in history. Since my current profession often involves researching mid-20th century European settings, especially in WWII, I still do lots of research and read nonfiction history. Looking forward to discovering interesting tidbits of history and story ideas as well as sharing what I've found.

Happy reading,
Steve

Bryan Craig Welcome, Michael. I hope this club will inspire you to read more history.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

I am a college student studying computing and living in an "international" Asian city, I had never interest in history except being forced to study both Chinese and world history during secondary school. Until recently I was more interested in world affairs reading a bunch of news about the conflicts in the middle east. And so I started reading history book. so basically I don't have much idea about world history but I will start to read more (hopefully)

Angle Hello everyone, my name is Angel, and I've been a book hoarder and voracious reader since I was a little girl. I have two teen daughters I adore, and I'm so grateful to share my passion for reading, and knowledge, with them. I'm new to goodreads, and I really don't know why it took me so long to join in the fun...
I enjoy reading many different genres, but historical non-fiction and biographies seem to be my preference. The book, and the author, that really hooked me:

John Adams by David McCullough by David McCullough David McCullough

I'm currently reading:

A Long Way Gone Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah by Ishmael Beah Ishmael Beah

It was my oldest daughter's summer reading pick. She was very moved by the author's story, so I had to find out for myself.

I'm excited to be in such good company, while still appeasing my introverted self!

It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Kathy | 3 comments Greetings to everyone from northern Virginia. I am new to goodreads and was thrilled when I happened upon this group. I looked through the books you have been reading and they look like the kind of books I enjoy so it will be great to have a community to share. I have already downloaded the current book and hope to catch up with the discussion this weekend. I look forward to getting to know all of you. --Kathy

Pierre van Blommestein | 1 comments Hi, I am Pierre van Blommestein. I spent 20 years in the South African army as a chaplain, during the apartheid years. I have a deep interest in the stories of the ordinary people, of all persuasions, who lived through those events. In terms of modern military, political and social history, there is a huge untold story that many would find fascinating, I think. I currently live in Brisbane, Australia.

Ali Khan | 1 comments Hello All..
I am Ali Khan Esufzai from Pakistan.
I teach various courses on Modern South Asia and have studied Indian/South Asian History and Islamic History.
However, my research (as a research fellow) is concerned with religious militancy (in Islam) with special emphasis on the roots (if any) in Islamic Education System ('Madrassas')..

Generally speaking, I always liked history and like to read books on the subject (got a soft spot for ancient history)..
