Katy (kathy_h) Welcome, Audrey. Glad you could join us.

Here are a couple of links to some discussions in our group that might be of interest to you:

Medicine & Science
Britain

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how books you mention should look:

Hi everyone,

My name is Marina and I am of Yugoslav origin.
I have bachelor of arts degree in English language and literature and I currently live in the US.

I am a passionate reader, and in the genre of world history I love studying the Roman Empire from its beginning as a small city to the fall of the western Roman empire in the 5th century to the "Barbarians".
I also am a medieval junkie and love to read about the survival of the Eastern Roman Empire as the Byzantine empire.
Thanks!

Bryan Craig Hello Barbara and welcome.

Thanks for the introduction. Don't forget our self-promotion rules. We have a blanket policy, since we got burned before by aggressive authors getting in at first by saying they write or they are authors. Thank you.

I am an aviation historian. Not only do I read aviation non-fiction but works relevant to particular time periods. It's fascinating to 'wrap' the events of the time period around an aviator. Obviously, it makes the story so much richer. I'm looking forward to recommendations from this group on pre-WWII projects.

My main focus is American History. .. studies of U.S. Presidents, our nation's past wars, politics and other historical events which shaped our country and continue to influence our world. World history is also of interest to me. For the past 32 years I have been employed in the healthcare management field; initially as a Medical Office Manager then transitioning from the medical office to a health management consulting company as a Reimbursement Specialist. Living in the suburbs of historic Boston all my life, I find myself drawn to the subject. Visiting historic Charleston, SC on numerous occasions confirmed my passion for learning more about our country's roots. I am a novice in the history realm but welcome your suggestions and discussions on the topic.

Julie | 1 comments Hi all!

I'm Jules, from Austin, Tx, USA. I think I "inherited" my love of history from my dad. He, especially in his later years, was always reading. And he loved reading just about anything to do with history.

I really enjoy Texas History, and American History, the most. But honestly, history is so interwoven together, no matter what subject you're reading about.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster most of the time. But I do sometimes post in spurts, just depending on time permitting.

Thanks for the warm welcome! :D

I'm normally reading at least one history book and my favoured subjects include the Later Roman Empire and Medieval Europe, the Crusades, the Byzantine Empire, the French Revolution and general military history from the seventeenth through to the twentieth centuries. My favourite historical work of all is Edward Gibbons Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire which I have read twice and hope to read a third time before I die if I have time :-).

Looking forward to taking part in the discussions here.

James Overstreet | 1 comments Hello, my name is James, and I'm a journalist in Memphis, TN. I love all things history, most notably American colonial, Civil War, the Medieval Era, economic history and climate history (for example, The Third Horseman: Climate Change and the Great Famine of the 14th Century by William Rosen). Thanks and I look forward to perusing the many threads in this group.

Bryan Craig Welcome, James. Glad you could join us. We have a American colonial history topic:

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how the book you've mentioned should look:

The Third Horseman Climate Change and the Great Famine of the 14th Century by William Rosen by William Rosen William Rosen

William Allred | 1 comments My name is Allen and I live in North Carolina. I got my love of history from my dad who I can remember reading constantly when I was growing up. I have a rather large collection of books on the Civil War and World War II but lately I have been reading more about the American Revolution. Benjamin Franklin by Walter Isaacson and John Adams by David McCullough are the 2 books that really got me interested in the characters and events of that time period. I am currently reading The Radicalism of the American Revolution by Gordon Wood.I am excited to join the group.

Sumit | 1 comments Hi Everyone, This is Sumit Kishanpuria from Hyderabad India. I am an engineer and MBA by education background and currently working with Novartis Healthcare.

I have been involved in reading for a long time, but from a year or so I have been devoting almost half my reading to History (it started with WW II and now I m moving on to another era).

Idea behind joining this group is to get benefited from discussions with like minded people and if possible contribute my two cents.

Thanks for accepting me, Happy reading...
