Ruth Ann here. Retired with Bachelor of Humanities-Business and a Master of Education in Training & Development. My varied reading interests include literary fiction, folk lore, mythology, history, historical fiction, science, science fiction, philosophy...I just enjoy a well written book. Mary Roachand I will try to be a part of the upcoming group read.
Right you are Bryan, citing is important. The book about Ives that I reviewed is undoubtedly somewhat dated, but still worth a look for those who don't know his music and wonder what the fuss is all about....
by Henry Cowell no photo of Henry Cowell, who was a composer in his own right.
Welcome, Ruth Ann. Glad you could join us.I love your varied interests. This is the club for all things history. I am glad to see your interest in Stiff, we will be starting that book discussion soon here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Ok, I understood the ' no photo ' warning but with your post I see that's two profiles of Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges both don't have photo . Some librarian should correct this I already aplly as a librarian I'm waiting and also the author's wikipedia article have a photo that I was looking forward to put here. The two profiles author:
Numa Denis Fustel De Coulanges
Fustel De Coulanges
Also I'd like to say that although Fustel de Coulanges only has two books translated to english (only one in my native language - portuguese), he is very importante to history and law academic studies.Sorry for these posts in the welcome topic, after some librarian correct it, the moderators could delete these
Thanks Helio. I'm not sure how the photos get imported. It is good you might be a librarian and help out. Keep us posted.

Hello,My name is Andrea and while I have always been a fan of history in a school setting, I have not read much outside of school. I am from the U.S. and currently working on a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in World History. I thought this might be a place to gather some good ideas for reading and possibly websites or articles from journals that I have not already found. I have never added links to a post before so I hope to do that correctly when I mention a book. Thank you for being here.
Hi everyone, my name is Jake and I am from the United States. I am a sophomore studying Political Science and History at the University of Arizona (but will be at Arizona State University next semester). My passion for history stems from my father's and my grandfather's intense love for history. I thoroughly enjoy reading about American history (WWII and post-WWII American foreign policy), and European history (France and United Kingdom). Hope I can gain access to more knowledge through this group, and look forward to talking with all of you! Thanks!
-Jake

Hi everyone, and thank you for welcoming me to the group. My name is Erica and I'm an independent historian, with a particular interest in food history. I focus on the history of modern Vietnam, modern France, and San Francisco, but I also like to talk about the issues involved in food history more generally. I saw there was a thread/subgroup here on food history, so that's why I joined the history book club. Thanks again!

To truly understand the forces that drive nations, especially the ones that drive them to war, you have to "follow the money". Given your interest in the world wars, I think you would especially like Ahamed's The Lords of Finance --an interesting story with fascinating characters that shows how post WWI global finance decisions helped to incubate WWII. You might also like Chernow's history of the Morgan banking & finance empire. Again, such an important aspect of the history of the 20th century.

Hi everyone! My name is Kirsten Langston. I'm a writer and a voracious reader. I love all things history, especially historical fiction!
Hello EveryoneI'm Mike from the UK and I am an IT bod and bobbing around that middle age part of my life - ouch!
I grew up and continued living in sub-saharan Africa many years but eventually bought an umbrella and settled thereafter in UK. Still have the itch though and love travel, I particularly love Canada.
I prefer reading History (naturally) and Science Fiction. I was hooked on History since getting a good World History compendium as a kid - the joy has never gone away. Just lately I have been particularly wrapped up with Roman history and I find myself in awe of the grandeur and scale of Romes' achievements and the power of the individuals - but all history has its's own appeal!
I look forward to being part of this group (as well as the Sci-Fi group - hope I don't get booted out for that!!). People seem to be decent and like-minded souls to a large extent. Looking forward to being involved.
Best Wishes
Mike
