Hi everyone,

My name is Cole, I'm from the United States and in the Marine Corps serving overseas for the past few years guarding our Embassies in various countries. Finding this has been great because I'm normally out of the loop, not to mention not many 22 year old Marines are avid readers. I'm mostly interested in military history and even more so in Ancient Greek and Roman history. The beauty of reading history to me is always learning of something new, some new era or conflict I'd never heard of so it becomes something for me to discover and it's always fascinating. I look forward to all of the suggestions from this group and connecting with people from all walks of life to share our common interests and learn something new everyday.

I am from Los Angeles, California. Semi-retired. Was born in England and spent my early teens in Australia. Came here at 14 and have been here for the ensuing 55 years. I have a degree in Poly Sci from UCLA and a Masters in Business Ad-Organization Development from Pepperdine.

Big fan of British and US History. Currently reading Manchester's posthumous work on Churchill and have in my book pile, Rick Atkins last book in his trilogy on WW II. Recently been interested in reading bios on obscure Presidents and have recently read books on Chester A. Arthur and Grover Cleveland. Also have three books on Teddy Roosevelt in my book pile and have started but not finished Ron Chernow's bio on Washington.

Hello. Happy to join the group and looking forward to sharing my love of history with other like minded people. Much of my reading is focused on American History and especially the Civil War. I also enjoy reading about early American history in the Southern States, including Virginia. My family came to this country in the 1700s, my Dad's side from Germany settling in the South Carolina back country and then moving west to Alabama. My Mom's side from England and settled in Virginia (Northern Neck and Middleburg area) with some moving west to settle Kentucky. I am very interested in books that touch on these geographic areas. I also enjoy biography, military history, the history of Western Europe and Ancient History. I look forward to connecting.
