Ivan Ramljak | 5 comments Hi,
I am fairly new here, and have applied to be a librarian a couple of day ago so I could edit and combine several editions of books I have read in translation with their original.
When could I expect an answer to my application?

Thank you,
Ivan

Within a few days, if you are successful.

Matt Weston (mattweston) | 29 comments Hi there,

I applied to be a librarian around a week ago now, but am yet to hear whether my application was successful. If it was unsuccessful, I'd love to know why so I can go about fixing that!

Many thanks in advance,

Matt

Users do not get a response if they are not given librarian status and librarians have no control over who is or is not accepted.

Sometimes "why" is just that no new librarians are needed at this time. Might mean that you were not turned down; possibly application just held until more librarians needed. Only staff know (librarians and librarians group not part of the process) and they never answer "why" an application was turned down or not yet accepted.

In the meantime, just post edits you wanted to make and a librarian will handle for you.

I'm not staff so not at all sure how they are deciding things (actually with a new owner I would not be surprised to find out lots of stuff pending some owner decisions/changes) — but, I personally suspect an indication for needing new librarians would be specific areas of expertise wanted or seeing threads in this group taking a long time to answer (currently, 0-3 minutes is the turnaround time I'm seeing for database/book issues unnless we had to research or ask for more info from the poster; frequently more than one librarian tripping over each other to help).
