Who do you think is the newest kid on the block in Indian English Literature?

Good topic and thanks to the OP for starting it. I'm researching the sequel to my novel, and wanted to see/read what appeals to readers in India. Not that I hold most of the successful 'commerce'-ial authors listed here in high regard... but I think a balance needs to be struck between educating the (young Indian) reader to have a go at non commercial writing v/s alienating mainstream readers.

In ongoing research of reading reviews (and noting the language used) on Amazon and flipkart, it seems maintaining this balance is crucial to author success when looking for an audience India.

In my opinion, the best book I've read from a new Indian author was 'Left from Dhakeshwari' by Kunal Sen.

I'm looking forward to his next book.

I have read and loved all the above works you've mentioned.(except Rushdie, whose magical realism I don't get)

He is a member of this group. I must still read his book but, above all, I must still find it. It isn't easy that sites who sell it ship to Italy.

Manu Joseph, is a brilliant author. I read his ' the illicit happiness of others'. wow, what a book!!!. CB & ravindra Singh's writings are like Bollywood scripts.. For me, Manu joseph is the best new Indian author!!

I used to love reading 'Open' Magazine till Manu Joseph was the editor. After he was fired, it just went downhill!
