Assuming I understood your question, item #4 at the below link should fix this for you:

Edit: Tell you what. Include the details of the book here - ISBN, date published, etc, and I'll see what's going on. Oh, and can you describe or point me to a picture of the cover you are trying to make the default cover?

When you click on "Edit details" (just under and slightly to right of edition language), you should get a fill-in form for the book data.
On the right about midway down the page, under the cover image, there should be the words "Set this book as the primary edition for this work". Click on it.
Please let me know if you do not see those words. You should as the author. Librarians cannot set a default edition.
The edition you want to make the default is there, with the correct cover, and linked to your author profile. The only other thing I can think of is that you want this cover to show up for the Kindle edition and not the paperback edition and I have misread you.
I understand this is frustrating. If this still doesn't work, it is possible that Rivka or another GoodReads employee might be able to help where I cannot.

I have been trying to change this book cover for months. I sent in a request before that they said everything should work fine, but I'm still stuck with a cover that hasn't been the cover of my book in years.
My paperback cover for the book is the default one, but Goodreads keeps wanting to use a cover that I made when I was first learning how to create covers. It's not even the up to date one back then.
Nothing I do changes this. Every time I go to change it, it says I have librarian authorization and then gives me an error saying I need to be a librarian or something like that.
