Elizabeth Sherrill (bethkaiser) | 10 comments Good morning Librarians. I am doing some Goodreads work for Guideposts Books. We are working on organizing all books without an author to one page.

A librarian has helped us gather all the books to one page: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

We need to change the name of the group from 'Guideposts Books' to 'Editors of Guideposts'.

I am wondering if a librarian might be able to help us with this. We would love to send a few free books for your help.

Thanks so much,
Beth Kaiser

Empress (the_empress) Hi, we could do that, but the question is should we.

I think this should be merged with Unknown, since editors and publishing houses are not authors, or if they are they should all be listed.

But I will wait for Rivka to say. She is the authority here :)

Edit: Are those the correct authors?

We don't use the "Editors of" format for this. For any books with no known individual authors, we will keep them on a pseudo-author page like "Guideposts Books". But the preference is to find an actual individual author for each book.

Elizabeth Sherrill (bethkaiser) | 10 comments Hi Ellie. Thank you very much for your reply. I understand what you are asking.

For a lot of the titles listed on the Guideposts Books page there was no author --- it was a compilation of different editors from Guideposts. Most of these were submitted to the Library of Congress with the author name of 'Editors of Guideposts'. Moving forward they will be submitted to the Library of Congress this way.

Do you think 'Editors of Guideposts' is okay to use with this information? I know that our boss prefers to use this.

A little confusing, let me know if it makes sense.

Thanks so much for your help.
Beth

Elizabeth Sherrill (bethkaiser) | 10 comments Thank you Rivka. Do you think we could change the name from Guideposts Books to Editors of Guideposts and then make that the pseudo-author page?

No, it will stay Guideposts Books, as I explained above.
