I just can not remember titles or author. The protaganist is a woman named Francesca, who is a civil servant at the beginning of the series. She is the oldest sibling, has lots of little brothers, one of whom is a rock star (named Peregrine?), one a Charlotte Church type of boy soprano, whose voice breaks... She marries a policeman, has kids, stops working, changes to work at her old college, has an affair, etc. Anyone know this series?

No, that's not it - that is set in NY in the 19th century, mine are set in the late 20th, early 21st century in England.
