Andrew Finazzo (johnyqd) | 343 comments Although this book has appealed to me for some time based on its reception two things made me backshelf it. I have little interest in baseball and this is one of the least imaginative covers I've seen in some time (blue cover with white text).

I usually try to post this topic before I start reading... thankfully though I can say that this book has been truly enjoyable so far!

I think that the cover with the harpooners and whales would have been exactly what I needed to draw me into this novel.

Michelle Finazzo | 281 comments I have the first cover listed here. I can't help but think that this is the male version of the The Casual Vacancy cover. Maybe it is the font or the colors? Whatever it is, these two book covers look like they are married or at least have been dating a long time. This comment is solely based on cover design and has no additional meaning in terms of content.

Michelle Finazzo | 281 comments @Andrew - I agree with your assessment of the harpooner/whale cover. Having now read some of the book, it would be much more appropriate, meaningful and interesting cover choice.
