Hi everyone.
I went through and purged some of the older threads out. They are now located in the Long Dead Threads folder. You can still access them and post to them to make them current if you like....

I also got rid of the Anything But Pointless and Threads about Us folders. What I did was make the Reading Habits folder the home for all book related topics. And created a new folder titled Our Daily Randomness for all non-book related topics.

They were all mixed up and you should know me and my OCD by now.

Thanks for helping me keep everything neat and organized. It may take a minute for you to find your favorite threads, but I promise, they are out there... I didnt delete any :)

Awww shucks. You make me blush!
I was just looking through the threads today and started cringing at the random placement.... and figured, what the heck.... so I cleaned it all up!

Stop it.

You're making me blush!!

Yeah, its crazy how the group grew so quickly. Thats part of the reason I sent out that email to everyone. Just checking to make sure that its a real, true number.... Shocking!!

Thank you again.

Angela | 1934 comments I was also thinking about making an announcement to newbies who post something that has already been discussed, like Kindle, audio discussion, do you reread, when do you stop reading and others that have duplicates. Maybe letting them know to look before posting or create a thread were they can ask if a idea or thread has already been posted and we can help them find the thread so (as Lori says) new life can be breathed into it... just a thought! Might control the amount of threads created.

I dunno Angela. that's assuming people will check the announcement :)

Look at the wonders its working with the nomination and voting threads ---Oye Vey!!!

message 14: by Angie (new)

Angie I am curious why you delete members or want less members? Some of my groups would love to have the number of members you have!

I was wondering why it matters how many members we have?

message 16: by Angie (new)

Angie I don't think it makes a difference if people participate or not....I don't participate a lot on the group... what attracted me here was the section where I can list the books I plan to read. So I only chime in every now and then. I wouldn't want to be deleted if I hadn't been on in a while.

This is the biggest, little group discussion I've found on GR.

Lori, hats off and kudos to you!

To the other members of this group, thank you for broadening my reading habits! Another thing I REALLY like about this group is the diversity, different countries, different cultures, and thus, different interpretations of certain books.

Angie... I am not deleting members. I am not sure where you got that impression. I used to remove the inactive goodreads members (People who are no longer accessing their account here).. and then it got to be too much for me. I sent out an email to everyone just to check and see if those who are in the group and are inactive still want to remain in the group. That's all. Pretty simple, and straight forward. I didnt ask for additional participation.

Elisabeth, why are you wondering why it matters how many members we have? The only thing that matters to me is that we are a happy, tight knit family of book lovers. Again, its the not the numbers I care about, it was a reminder to those who no longer wish to be a part of the group to cancel their membership....

Elizabeth (Alaska) I only wondered because it seems we care whether we have 3200 (or more now) or 3000. Seems once we get to a certain level we have wonderful diversity with lots of viewpoints, (and we're surely there) and the difference between those numbers wouldn't have much affect on the group as a whole. And my comment was in response to Angie's inquiry about deleting members. Somehow it just seems the "number" of members must mean something.

well, I think you may be reading into it too much.
We have a thread that celebrates the milestones we break at every additional 100... I think we owe it to ourselves to congratulate everyone for being part of such a great group. And if you notice, it was a member of the group who created it :)

A number, especially one as wonderfully large as ours, means alot when you look at how well we all get along, dont you think?

Elizabeth (Alaska) And I've looked at that thread and congratulated us many times.

You're right Super Mod. We all get along so well because we all have a common love - books. So, no matter how much we might differ in our thoughts and attitudes, we can always fall back on our love for books.

Angie WHOA WHOA WHOA... I am sorry Lori if I came off wrong. I am a moderator of four groups on here and was just curious about what you were doing. You never know maybe I would think it was a good idea and would use it in my groups. I was just wondering why it mattered whether people participated or not. I have a few groups that have a ton of members who don't say anything and I just leave them alone so I was just curious if there was something I didn't know. Sorry to upset you!

Angie, I wasnt upset. Just clarifying... I did not mean to come across that way.

I'll chime in too to say I love how you have this group so organized - it has everything, books, discussions, fun and games and really nice members. I don't feel like I need to belong to any other groups actually. I also like how you have everything explained so clearly for the topics.

Why thank you. I try. It tends to be trial and error.... at times :)

You are right though, there is a great group of people here :)!!!
