I think it's silly to compare two totally different series' that have nothing in common except vampires and a main character in high school. I mean there are some things that you find in lots of YA books such as the love triangle but I mean really, these stories are totally different and shouldn't be compared to one another. I can say I enjoyed one more than the other but that doesn't necessarily make it better. Sorta how people try to say the book is better than the movie. They are two different types of medium; they can't be compared. You can enjoy one more than the other or understand one more but you can't really say either is better.

Is this a serious question? Of course Vampire Academy is better than Twilight. The first series is about a strong and feisty heroine who has no problems bending or even outright breaking rules to fight for what she believes in. The second series is about a girl with the personality of a doorknob who wants her boyfriend to kill her so they can be together forever. It's a no-brainer which one is the superior series.

I think that they are very different in story line and characters. However, if you want that love story between two people that are confused then go for Twilight. If you want to see what happens when two people who love each other but there are others to consider then you should read Vampire Academy. I think that in the plot summary and excitement that the Vampire Academy series is better however, the Twilight Series was a little bit more grown up than the Vampire Academy series. They are both great in thier own right but if I had to choose a story line that is more exciting than both of these I would read the Laurell K. Hamilton series of Anita Blake.

I think VA is a lot better than Twilight. The writing and pace of the books are better, and I love the fact that you're never quite sure what's going to happen.

I do like Twilight a lot though. They used to be my favourite books. I love a lot of the characters and their histories and there's a lot of humour in the books. I've never been a huge fan of Bella though. I think she has a way of annoying me. And I really loathed Jacob through all the books. In VA I love both Dimitri and Adrian. Even though their personalities are so different, they are both really great people.

I loved VA but I am worried the movie is going to ruin the image of what I have for the book. I am not sure but I saw a commercial for the movie a few days ago and the Dimitri character doesn't stack to the Dimitri that I have imagined as I read.

I'm not really that big a fan of twilight but i loved vampire academy. Not every every vampire novel is twilight. I found that Twilight did switch things up a little in the fact of making the vampires sparkle however i really enjoyed the fact that in vampire academy apart from the actual title the word vampire isnt even mentioned all that much mostly just damphir, moroi and stigori so that has an original spin on the term of vampire. I also just found vampire academy a lot easier to read compared to twlight and was more relatable (as much as you can relate to vampires).

Vampire Academy is exceedingly better due to the fact that there is an overarching plot line that extends all six books of the series. Mead's writing style is much more developed and approachable compared to Meyers'. Mead's character development allows for three dimensional characters rather than the two dimensional love and characters that Meyers presents.
I am partial to Rose due to the fact that I love strong female characters as a protagonist, and Bella was always weak and defined herself with her love for Edward. Rose was already a person without her love for Dimitri, but Bella defined herself with it.
The pacing and plot line of the VA series is amazing as well compared to the Twilight series. Twilight is the classic stock young adult book, credit though to Twilight for really bringing on the Teen Paranormal Romance genre. Vampire Academy provides so much more than the typical young adult books.
Vampire Academy gets my vote by far.

Ive read both series. But I enjoyed Vampire Acadamy better. They're was less filler crap and the main character was a strong capable woman unlike twilight. (Rose to Bella).

In VA we get this female character thats independent and she is not willing to take bull***t from anyone and in twilight we get this damsel in distress and its just really upseting that the girl always needs to be rescued by the guy. When I read Twilight I really liked it but then in front of the VA series , the Twilight Saga seems ridiculous . Also VA has made a permanent impression on my mind and its own place in my heart which Twilight failed to because I Bella's so intolerable .
P.S - I love Dimitri & Adrian way more than the whining Edward and the unfortunate Jacob :P
