Martin Hopkins Dear Goodreads support team,

Many thanks, I appreciate your help. I posted a promotional thread outside of the Amazon 'Meet Our Authors' forum and instantly received various enraged responses from my fellow members for 'spam'. I thought it was okay to post in relevant genre threads and I did just that. I was unaware that apparently you can only ever post in one place and admitted my ignorance. This was not accepted and the slurs continued. I defended my actions and received even more assaults on both my character and my writing.

A significant number of members have now added me to the worst shelves imaginable, including 'Never Read In A Million Years' and 'Author Abuses Readers'. I did no such thing and it is simply not true. I love readers and writers, encourage them and take enjoyment in doing so myself. I am certain most of the people commenting have seen parts of a thread and jumped on the bandwagon, never having read the material for its own merit.

The outcome of this so far is my lower star rating and the 'Popular Shelves' making me look like a terrible person unworthy of a readership. This is pretty bad for a young author just starting out, to have all this negative feedback for a genuine mistake.

I would be most grateful if you could remove all of the slander that has appeared on the pages of my three works to date, 'Cracks in the Pavement' 'Old Man in Window' and 'The Crook Of Things'.

All the best,

Martin
