Finally getting around to reading The Magician King and I am enjoying it as much as its predecessor. Just finished the Human Division as well which was great. If you liked Old Man's War, dive into The B-Team and you will not be disappointed.

Speaking of the eighties, I just finished A Door Into Ocean, a classic from Joan Slonczewski, recommended if you want some examples of nonviolence in action. Apparently the author wrote it to respond to both Dune and The Word For World is Forest.Currently reading Six-Gun Tarot, which I'm enjoying so far, and Angelmaker by Nick Harkaway.
Scott, have you read any of Michelle West? Definitely epic. I'll also throw out Lorna Freeman for high fantasy.

Scott wrote: "Reading The Sheepfarmers Daughter....and I just realized when reading these posts that I feel really old (I'm only 42)! Why? Because I don't like gritty or dark or "real" - i don't like George R...."Well, just incase you haven't read him yet: Brandon Sanderson IMO does a pretty good job of keeping high fantasy alive while simultaneously avoiding treading on familiar grounds too much.
Mistborn: The Final Empire and sequels, Elantris, Warbreaker, and his epic Stormlight Archive with the first book The Way of Kings out and the second coming late this or early next year.
If you like heroic saga's Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles is a good bet. The final book isn't due for a year or more though (might be a lot more).
Finished Memories of Ice (My Review). I'll be starting House of Chains once I finish Wool Omnibus as my Malazan read continues.
I also finished listening to Song of Susannah (My Review).
On to The Dark Tower as I conclude my audio reread of the Roland's quest for the tower.

This was supposed to be In Reply to Joseph who wrote Finished The Gods of Pegana and moved straight into Time and the Gods, both by Lord Dunsany.
Those are both magical and unique. No one else could pull off the weird names, lack of information, and sometimes lack of plot and still have a box of glittering gems of short stories.
There are a good selection of his works on Project Gutenberg for free download, if you are looking for some more.

Reading Digital Logic Circuit Analysis and Design when I've got some free time at work, been trying to learn some new stuff even though I'm done with school...Listening to Hounded while driving around. It's pretty light, and is something I think I needed. I think I prefer the Dresden or Connor Grey books, but I'm not unsatisfied or otherwise disappointed. Didn't really start much into Wool Omnibus this weekend like I had planned. Maybe tomorrow, after I've caught up on GoT...
I am currently working to finish "the lost fleet" series, and starting "the cleric quintet". Trying to get some stuff of my to read shelf.
I'm reading The People Of The Mist by Haggard. Just started so still to early for an opinion, though in general I do like his work.
I'm listening to The Adventures of Robin Hood. Even though I'm familiar with the story I've never acturally read the book. Only in Ivanhoe have I read of Robin's adventures. Way past time. There are plenty of different versions by different authors all with the same title. Any much better than the others?

And mine :)
Currently reading Wool Omnibus and listening to Sandworms Of Dune (the less said about that the better.)
Just finished Confessor, book 11 and the final volume of The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. Probably the longest series I have ever read in terms of page/word count, but worth it in the end.
Will be joining the renegade read as soon as I have finished Wool.
I just tore through The Demon Accords, which is an urban fantasy series by John Conroe. I just finished book 4 about ten minutes ago, so I'm hoping that book 5 comes out soon. Now, well, I am about to throw down and read Bitter Seeds, unless something else grabs my attention of course. It is either that or The Fog, written by James Herbert.
Steadily reading through Carrie as well...
I have just finished reading Afterlight by Alex Scarrow and I am also reading Wool (well listening to) and reading Zombie apocalypse fight back by Stephen Jones.
Finished Time and the Gods and went into the brand new (just out yesterday) Shield of Sea and Space by Erin Hoffman. Yay! Gryphons!
Now that school's out, I'm stocking up on all the library books I didn't have time for during the semester. I've just started on Wool, which I'm enjoying so far. Next up will be Caliban's War (finally), then on to The Killing Moon and Child of the Prophecy.Yay for summer!
Molly wrote: "Yay for summer! ."
Enjoy that while it lasts. While summer still means vacation, it's much shorter and when you're not on it, there is usually extra work to cover the ones who are.
At least where I work.

Been a while since I've posted. I've continued on through the Dresden Files. I finished Proven Guilty over the weekend and am working on White Night right now. Ended up stalling out on Dragonflight, and am at the start of I think section 4 of Wool Omnibus. Of the three books I've gotten from Audible, Wool has been the best so far.

"If you had waited until next week you could have bought The Human Division as a compendium instead of paying for each part :)
I've paused in my reading of Wool to focus on Buddenbrooks which I'm reading for another Goodreads group read.

White Night is one of my absolute favorites in the series.

Finished the Audible version of Death Masks The Dresden Files 5.My review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Starting the Audible version of Red Seas Under Red Skies

Dead Beat is good, but you still have Changes and Cold Days too. Those plus White Night are the 3 I've given 5 stars to.
I'd be surprised if you don't like at least one of those 3 better, but everyone's different.
Changes is probably the best book in the series so far, but White Night is still probably my favorite.

Just finished Michael Sullivan's Theft of Swords, currently listening to Sullivan's Rise of Empire and Peter Hamilton's Great North Road. Still trying to finish Erikson's The Crippled God and the last Wheel of Time novel, which have been sitting on my bedtable for some time now.
Finished The Emperor's Soul. I really liked it but I want more. I really hope Sanderson goes back to that world and writes a full novel (or more). His magic systems are always so amazing. Now on to On Basilisk Station.
Done with Dune re-read but this time in combination with Audible. Book aside, which is masterpiece by itself, voice acting performance was great as there are four narrators thus background music from time to time which greatly improves whole experience. Recommended!Regarding my next book I'm not so sure. probably will continue with the series as I read only first book so there is an option. Too much mountain biking lately so less time for books...
I started listening to 2312 today. It's absolutely beautiful. It's delightfully strong science fiction. I have no idea what the heck is going on, but it is beautiful.I just read Doctor Who: Summer Falls today. I would be an absolutely wonderful children's novel that could be read without knowing anything about Doctor Who. Being a Whovian makes it more enjoyable because it adds an extra layer to the story, but the story is very sweet on it's own. It kind of reminds me of Coraline.
I picked up the hardback of The Golem and the Jinni. I'm enjoying it so far. I think it's the first paper book I've picked up this year. The writing is very good, the edition is physically gorgeous, but I'm having a hard time with that two-page spread thing and holding a book. It only works while sitting at my desk eating lunch. I think I'm officially a Borg.
Now I'm listening to the audiobook of Barrayar by Lois McMaster Bujold. MUCH more enjoyable than Shards of Honor. Bujold is so good with characterization.I'm also reading Wool Omnibus and erm... I probably shouldn't judge it yet. I'm sure it gets better.
I finished up Hounded the other day and decided to really dig into Wool Omnibus. Oddly, reading the print version really wasn't grabbing me, but I've had a good time listening to the audio version. I've even been listening while doing my exercises for my back...I usually have ESPN or Arrested Development on, but the book is a lot more entertaining. I'm looking forward to driving a good bit this week and expect I'll finish it quickly. I feel like I should be knitting while I listen, though...Then it'll be back to my regularly-scheduled The Mongoliad: Book One in audio and my friend's book in print.
In addition to this month's pick, I have read The Icarus Hunt and will be starting Doctor Who: Shada once I finish Wool. I also plan to read the renegade pick The Player of Games and The Ward (I won it from a goodreads giveaway, so I really should review it soon).I'm also listening to The Magicians and Elantris.
I'm listening to Dead in the Family on audio and I still enjoy the series. I've been reading The Blinding Knife but it's slow going. I like it, but it's hard for me to focus on a long book when I have so many other books I want to get to. I've thought about putting it down but I also want to move forward with the series. While I've been making up my mind I've been reading The Marvelous Land of Oz since it's shorter. I really want to read NOS4A2 after hearing all of you mention it. I need to stop coming on these boards, my tbr pile keeps on getting bigger!
Finished The Windup GirlMy review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Next up it's back to Peter V Brett with The Daylight War

Thanks a lot, ill for sure take a look.
I read Alif the Unseen, nearly in 1 day (which is fast for me). I really hope S&L picks it up as a Fantasy pick soon.

I also really enjoyed the Demon accords. According to posts on facebook by Conroe the book 5 is due out in early June some time.
Reading Parable of the Talents and audiobooking Ready Player One (narrated by Wil Wheaton!)Enjoying the first because Butler always delivers. Enjoying some of RPO but am not too keen on the protagonist. Hoping that improves as the story progresses.
Finished The Dark Tower Volume 2 The Long Road HomeMy review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
