Pardon me for being dense, but what song are we talking about?"
Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man" I think?

Thank you for this. I am so out of touch, apparently. I just went to listen to the song. It's lovely.
Finish it last night. I liked it. A 3* for me. While the story was interesting, it did not move me. All the way to the end, I thought that Pat (view spoiler).
Tiffany's character did not work for me. That my problem with the book.

I had thought the same thing about Pat.
Good book - not what I thought the story would be about but I didn't feel like I wasted my time. Curious about the movie which is usual for me - strictly a book girl.
I was more in the camp that just didn't care for it. I'd read The Perks of Being a Wallflower a few months before, and to me, it had that same, childish cadence to it (and the same flaw of plot spoilers for several books!) and it just didn't work for me. I found Pat and Tiffany both irritating, though I felt for them. I was more confused by his parents desire for him to spend time with her, as she didn't seem like a healthy person for me. Just my opinion, though.

Turns out his mom is just that fragile because of her own problems and Nikki is still alive and well and it was just a bad ending to a relationship. (hide spoiler)]
One part did make me cry though, Tiffany's husband's story got a few tears out. To have that happen would be heart shattering. There was no (view spoiler)[betrayal of trust in that story, (hide spoiler)] just two people in a normal relationship.
On the whole, didn't like this book.
And I've changed Bruno Mars' song to have these lyrics:
I should have bought you flowers, and (view spoiler)[not almost killed your secret lover in the bathtub (hide spoiler)].
Which is what i will think now when i hear it on the radio.
