Chrissy Subject 1: If there are publishers on this website, I ask you: WHY DO YOU CHANGE THE FRIGGIN' COVERS OF A SERIES?? MIDWAY!!
That's like me coming up to you in a restaurant while you are having a fantastic meal, taking you tender chicken breast with mushroom sauce in the middle of it all and changing it with the rotting fish that the kitchen has got to get rid of before it goes really bad.
What is the purpose of it? I ask you?? It's that reason why I have to wait patiently, in an aggravated state, for the entire series to come out so as to not have mis-matching covers on my book shelves.

Subject 2: I personally try not to lend books to people unless I know they are the kind of people that think of their books as sacred, because of all the horror stories I hear when friends tell me that their book came back with pink pen on the page, dog ears, the cover was ripped. Once I heard (on youtube) that a person actually left a book out in the rain!! Who does that?? Or someone used a lent book! as an umbrella! The f**k!
Thoughts?

Fernanda García | 12 comments I HAAAATE mismatching covers. Or when they turn the book into a movie and they change the cover for the stars faces. That's obnoxious!!!

And I never, ever, ever lend my books unless I know the person is as equally obsessed as I am and that they are gonna take great care of them.

But I do have a confession to make. I always dog-ear my books. I'm always reading multiple books at a time and I don't have any bookmarks, so I dog-ear them because it's easier and faster. I know, you can kill me now! LOL

Alexandra (alexandra-the-fairy) OMG not the rain! Movie covers are just annoying. Sometimes I wonder if they even read the books.
My sister will never lend a book again because we never saw it again after. I've actually snuck around un-dog earring pages in books when people weren't looking. One day I will hand out a bookmark to EVERYONE

Sam (sam222) I have a friend that's going to College and I was in her room talking to her when suddenly I pick up one of her College books. I open it to where she has stopped and she marked her page by DOG-EARING the page. I spent 30 minuets shaking the book in her face and yelling at her (Not really more like talking to her loudly) about how wrong it was to bend the corner like that. That's when I grabbed a random piece of paper and started shaking it in her face and saying "Can't you just grab a random paper and stick it up in there. Anything would be better then bending the page. When you bend the page it's like your killing it, it yells out in pain every time you do this (Shakes book)" that's when she made a point that I couldn't really argue with. She said "I bought the book so I can do what I want with it" I was like "Well you may have a valid point there but still I hate to see the pages bent on a book." She laughs at me, that's when I left the room and went to watch TV. My little talk did nothing cause she still does it :(

Jess (jessbr) I'm fine with changing covers but I draw the line at putting the chatacters used in the movie because that's hollywood's assumption of what they're to look like

Book covers bug me just because it makes my collection look weird. Also the size gets bigger the more popular the series is - why? (While I say that why is there generally 4/5 blank pages at the back) if you lend books to friends they should treat with respect. I lent a book in mint condition to a close friend and it came back with a terrible state. Just disgraceful!

Tom Krug (thomas_krug) | 22 comments I just changed the cover on my book. But in this case, the improvement is pretty radical. Now it looks like something you'd see on a bookstore shelf, not the freebie section of Smashwords. However I agree with you guys: changing a cover mid-series is annoying. I hate looking at mismatched books from the same series. So even though my cover artist is pricey ($650), I'll be sticking with him just to keep my future fans happy. Also he's good. Really really good.

I don't really understand people's gripes about dog-earing. It never really struck me as a big deal. If I borrow a book and I see a creased corner, I think to myself, "Cool! Already marked! I'll stop here for tonight. Thanks for saving me the trouble, book owner." I don't think the book really cares that much about a folded page.

Now your teething puppy getting a hold of that book and tearing the covers off--that I can understand. Holding a book with no covers is pretty annoying.
