How so?

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 29 comments Because religion 'could be a lie with no substantial proof'. So, according to you, why not stay neutral?

I respect your beliefs as long as it's not imposed on others. (:"

Meaning: God created us, and loved us, but we are sinners, therefore Jesus died for us and through him, we can have a relationship with God, who loves us no matter what

Not really, I didn't project it to other parameters that circumscribe religious elements specifically.

And logic is factors of factual scrutiny; Sartre's 'existentialism' is a good start.

Science and religion were never opposed... Are you kidding me? Many scientists were catholic priests!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_...

Also, science and religion can co-exist, and they always have. Just because I'm catholic does NOT mean I'm anti-science. I have classmates who aspire to be engineers and surgeons. We don't live under rocks. Please don't make assumptions like that.

Abigail (oftheheavens) | 166 comments Look, this isn't a place to trash other people. Calling Christianity a 'fallacy' is not cool. Not here.

You can say you don't agree. You can say you don't believe. But you SHOULD NOT say that we are wrong just because you THINK we are. I believe in God. I trust science. I am not an idiot. And I am speaking nothing but the truth. SCIENCE AND RELIGION ARE NOT OPPOSED. This is NOT a discussion about whether God is real or not. The thread is named: "Do religious people refuse to accept science?" Not: "Do religious people know that their faith is a 'fallacy'?"

And we do not refuse to accept science, please and thank you.

Xdyj | 127 comments Actually Georges Lemaitre, who was one of the first physicists that solved Einstein's equation for the universe & proposed what later became the "big bang" theory of cosmology, was also a Catholic priest & was one of the scientists that convinced the pope to stop mixing matters of faith with matters of science and end official endorsement of creationism. Some, but not all religious people refuse to accept science just like some but not all nonreligious people refuse to accept science, and imho we shouldn't overgeneralized.

Xdyj | 127 comments Another interesting thing is that the theory of Darwin & Mendel was once banned in some eastern bloc states for years, despite the fact that Karl Marx spoke highly of Darwin's Origin. People can reject science & reality for a variety of reasons, not just certain religious beliefs.

Chantae B. certain things in science I agree with others I don't so I think religious people can accept things in science if they want to since I am religious and I do accept things in science
