Yeha, it hit everyone three times. I think the system went glitchy!! I tryed my first ever mass email...

ugh.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I guess it made up for me never getting even one.

message 105: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I got 3. <3 maybe?

Jamie Fiona wrote: "Interesting the A Northern Light is there for Cat. 2 - for British people that comes under the title of A Gathering Light instead - in case anyone wants to know and it looks very good."

I didn't know that either - I hope it doesn't affect the voting!

message 107: by Mosca (last edited Apr 15, 2009 04:17PM) (new)

Mosca | 828 comments These really are two enormous selections. I've only read one of the YA (I Capture the Castle- a lovely book). But I've read five of the Cat 1 books.

So I voted for books I haven't read.

I've always wanted an excuse to read The Wind in the Willows.

Never read Haruki Murakami; but been hearing good things.

I didn't suggest any of these; but you folks came up with a pretty impressive salad bar!

Ok Fiona.... done.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Mosca, Wind in the Willows is wonderful, but the biggest enjoyment is as a read aloud. The cadence is truly something. My daughter remembers "she could hardly wait to go to bed at night" when I was reading it to my girls.

message 110: by JSou (last edited Apr 15, 2009 04:27PM) (new)

JSou I've been wanting to read Murakami for awhile now. I've had my copy of Kafka on the Shore for a few months now, so I figured now's a good time as any to read it!

message 111: by Malena (new)

Malena (badgalmalmal) Oh so many choices...

message 112: by JSou (new)

JSou Oooh, Slaughterhouse Five and Fahrenheit 451 are two of my all-time favorite books! There are so many good choices this month!

message 113: by Maliades (new)

Maliades Three Cups of Tea One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time - Greg Mortenson

Because I've heard good things about it from various people.

You know you have to vote on the poll, right? It wont count to voice your choice here.

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

One thing I hate about voting is that there are so many good books to choose from!!!!!! If only we could read them all!

message 116: by Apokripos (new)

Apokripos (apokalypse) I voted The Chocolate War!!!

Don't worry about it Emilee, we have all the time in the world... the end of the world is still far...

Its sad to think that there are more books out there than there are days left to live... so you will never ever ever get to read every book.....

choose carefully :)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) Lori wrote: "Its sad to think that there are more books out there than there are days left to live... so you will never ever ever get to read every book.....

That is sad to think about... even things like 1001 boooks to read before you die... so many good suggestions, but it doens't even encompass half of the good stuff...

message 120: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) lol, that is true. I wish there were ways to absorb books... you know, so that you can get more out of them... or you can read more of them... or you can retain the things in them better!

Ack.. people are still nominating...
Im tellin ya.....

tsk tsk tsk

message 129: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments I don't think people read the entire thread, so they must miss your announcement that noms are done, even though you change the title...but too many threads if you do one for noms, letting people know that voting is taking place, and then announcing the winner.

not only changing the title, but the first post is edited as well.......

Jamie Carla - I just wanted to remind you that you need to vote in the poll section. As of right now anyway, no one has voted for the book you've mentioned.

message 136: by [deleted user] (new)

How about "The Poet and the Billionaire?" I'm a BIT biased though. :)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) Hey Lori- where IS the poll section?! I tried to locate it last night and couldn't. I'm hoping the fact that I couldn't find it is due to how extremely tired I was and not a sign of intelligence. Or lack thereof. :)
