So, Matilda's Revenge is the name of the first chapter. And wow. Obsess much? I wonder how much truth there is to that initial meeting when Matilda was a young lady.

My review. Loved it, despite some quirky annoyances that flitted through, overall it was very enjoyable.

Okay, I really, really liked it. I thought it was the great start to a trilogy and it really makes me want to read the other two!

SO glad you liked this one.. as did I! I am swimming in review reads/obligations etc but the next Plaidy I read is certainly going to be book two in the Norman Series. Go check out my review Michele =)
Seriously, I only have like 8-9 titles to get through, so if i can manage to be a good girl and not accept anything else I am really looking forward to reading books of my own collection.
One of those is going to be Katherine in mid-July, FINALLYYY .. will somehow come up with a group read at the Classic HF Group.
Katherine

LOL, have fun with Katherine. I am the only hist fic reader in the western world to not like that book. Get ready for some major Pollyanna. But it is a good accurate story of Eddie III's kids. It's been years since I've read it.
My ARCs are spread out over the next few months, so I'll be okay I think to read the second one whenever you are free. The 17 library books staring at me, however....hmmmmmm.

Awesome on the book 2 group read.. I'll see when I have a moment to squeeze it in but it probably won't be till after the Katherine read, but depends of course.. I'll keep you posted.

I know MaryKate, my library also sucks with these older titles, they don't have a lot of anything historical actually. Very sad, indeed. Which is why my personal library has quadrupled over the last four years, which I've neglected for too long!

ME TOO!!! I was totally immersed in the ending, I was loving it.

I was also concerned when I searched on Amazon and some titles came up as $50 or more (first editions). I had to do a little digging to find a cheap copy, but I'm glad I did! This one will stay on my shelf for a long time.

It was one of those moments where I was speed-reading through the end because I HAD to know what happened. Those are the best moments :)

Definitely, used copies are the way to go! I love how Amazon easily has a way to choose from other sellers for used ones, but I've also used Abebooks and Thriftbooks when needed.

(Most of my Plaidy collection started with a huge Ebay lot or two, and then I built on it from there).

Great idea! *immediately goes to Ebay site*
The one drawback to thriftbooks is that they have stickers on their binders which sometimes are hard to take off, so use them as a last resort. I have used BetterWorldBooks also.
One of the comparisons Marie made earlier was Mathilda and Eleanor of Aquitaine. And I agree. In fact, I thought William with his inability to divide lands between sons, etc, was so much like Henry II it was uncanny!
Since this is the conclusion of the book would you be interested in continuing with this series? What is your impression of Plaidy's writing style as opposed to the previous group reads of Carr & Holt pseudonyms? Feel free to link up any reviews here etc.
