Thanks for the visit Rhonda and for the recommendations - and the brownies YUM YUM!I've added Wombat Sushi to me TR shelf; it sounds great!
Please feel free to visit anytime you like; I try to have goodies out for visitors.
Cheryl - I've had regular massage before but never a hot stone. This will be a first for Mom & Sis. I told them to wear easy on and off, Mom says she's wearing her robe. Ha ha!!Next treat is a mani/pedi ... I've had but again Mom & Sis never had.

Ok, I grabbed a cup of joe - thanks. I am still laughing about your mom wearing a robe during the massage. Tell her she can wear slippers for her pedi. She and your sis will love it - what a great and fun thing to share.
I just finished reading Fly Away by Kristin Hannah and I. AM. WRECKED. Fly Away is the sequel to Firefly Lane (and also had me grabbing the tissues). I LOVE anything I've read by K.Hannah but I should not have read this book at this time. I have a cousin (more like another brother) who has been diagnosed w/ CA and been given 12-18 months and this book just brought everything too close to home. But . . . I want to try to show J (my cousin) a positive attitude so I have been keep my emotions really close and I needed the outlet I guess. Sorry if I brought anyone down. I certainly didn't mean to.
If you visit - you may see posts like this on & off as I give in to my need to vent . . .
And now I'm going to grab a bowl of ice cream (help yourself to some, I have choc chip mint & heavenly hash) . . .
Morning All - Sounds like rain this morning. Please help yourselves to some coffee or tea and I have a coffee crumb cake and cheese danish if you're in the mood for a bite.
After my last read,
, left me an emotional wreck, I needed something light to read and I think I may have found it in
by Kristan Higgins. The main, Millie, seems like a real pip. I've had a few chuckles so far which I really need from a book right now.
I'm really sorry to hear that Julie.I'm about to upload my book to smashword and when I do I'll send you a coupon to cheer you up. But I does have the occasional f word. Is that ok for you?
Thanks Rhonda - I'm ok w/ the occasional F-bomb as long as it's not every other word.Cheryl - I did see your review on your recommendation earlier this morning and it is now added to my TR shelf.
Hi All -So ... I'm having some family health issues and felt I had to rename my corner as I may be escaping here quite a bit for the next little while. For those of you dropping by, you may see some ranting & raving - I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable but will understand if you don't want to come visit for awhile.
With that being said, I am taking a break from reading (just for today) so I can torture myself. I want to put together a photo album for my cousin J (who is very sick - CA). I am going to scan some old family pix and put them in a digital frame for him. I plan on taking a poll from the rest of the family to see if this an approriate gift. I don't want to make him sad, but I do want him to remember the good times and all of the love.
If I haven't totally brought you down into the blah's please help yourself to some snickerdoodles.

Julia, I'm so sorry about you cousin. Ok to rant and rave - it's most definitely allowed. By the way, I left some lilacs from my yard on your table. Enjoy
Hi All!Happy Mother Day to any Mom's that may drop in today.
I won't be around much, I'm on my way to pick up my Mom then it's out to breakfast and off to get our massages (Mom's first).
Please feel free to help yourselves to some treats. Harvey Wallbanger & Angel Food cakes, mimosas (for Mom's only), soft drinks & Arnold Palmers in the fridge.
Hope all the Moms had a great Mothers Day.Just got back from spending the day w/ Mom & Sis. They both loved the massages. My sister practically kissed my feet.
After massages, it was out to lunch, WHERE WE SPEND 3 HOURS DUE TO POOR SERVICE!!! Grrr!! But - the food was WONDERFUL! Back to my sister's house to veg and relax and now here I am, home sweet home w/ my BF where we are watching Reel Animals (a fishing show).

Just knew they would love the massage! Did you love the hot stones yourself? I've seen a lot of people say they had slowwwwwwwwwww service today. I, on the other hand, had lunch prepared, delivered and served by my daughters. Excellent service and lots of laughs - just what I needed. They gave me giftcards with the intent that I will used them to buy a bicycle. Haven't ridden in years but supposedly it all comes back to you. We shall see.
Hi Cheryl - Mom loved it so much that she became a member (we went to hand & stone massage & spa). I'm glad you had a good day with your daughters. I take it your daughters live close to you?
Julia2848 wrote: "I'm reading

BTW, I think you are doing an awesome thing with the memory book for your cousin. :)

Thanks Alondra! On the one hand it's heartbreaking, and on the other - what a trip down memory lane!Cheryl - it's nice that you're all so close, my sister & mother live about 10 minutes from each other, I'm about 30 from them, and my brother is about 8 hours away up in the panhandle. We're all in central FL, he's up by AL.

my brothre lives up in the panhandle too... he lives in Goodwell Ok... small world huh?
Hi again, Julia!I hope all's well with you and yours.:)
I figured I'd return the favor by dropping by YOUR corner and showing some love!
Time for a little snack . . . I'm leaving a plate of peanut butter cookies for any late night visitors.
The book I'm reading has it's ups and downs . . it's kind of frustrating. On the upside, new Modern Family & Criminal Minds tonight.
Hi, Julia - just stopping in to leave you a fresh salad from my garden along with some poppy seed dressing.
I just realized you wrote "from my garden". What do you grow? I'm in FL and my BF is talking about starting a garden this year. He would like to grow chili's, peppers, tomatos, - AND he wants to get goats.
Ok, here goes. This year (and about the same most years), we are growing our garlic of course (that is planted in November); 3 kinds of lettuce; spinach; bok choi; banana peppers (friends give us the other kinds); radishes; spring onions; tomatoes (grape, Roma, Jetstar I think);rosemary; basil; thyme; Italian parsley; chives; dill. I'm missing something but this is the main list. I love it - so nice to pick a salad or salsa (that's what my Romas are for), etc. Also great farmers' markets around so this is definitely my favorite time of year (spring, summer and fall) - someone else can enjoy winter because I hibernate.NOW, as for goats, I love the little pygmy goats but I don't like to eat goat or drink their milk so they would all stay pets for me if I had a place to keep them.
WOW!! That sounds like a pretty big garden! I love bok choy! BF wants goats as pets, I'm thinking cheese . . .
Julia2848 wrote: "WOW!! That sounds like a pretty big garden! I love bok choy! BF wants goats as pets, I'm thinking cheese . . ."Hmmmm and which of you will be milking? As for the size of the garden not extreme. As some items are phased out because they are not heat tolerant the space is taken by the growth of the others. Just goes down one side of th yard.

I can't grow a veggie... I grow flowers, bulbs and roses ONLY. I love gardening as well, and find that books and flowers bring me a lot of peace.

Have a lot of veggies to pick, clean and package for us and friends. Plus got a bit carried away at the nursery a couple of days ago and now have more flowers, veggies and herbs to plant. Will be fun in the sun.
Spending a nice evening @ home w/ my man, my book and a nice glass of . . . dr pepper. I have some choc. chip cookies and some home made fudge for any drop on by's.
I have tried my hand w/ houseplants, but it seems I have a black thumb. I do love cactus & succulents though and have a few of those in the back yard. My BF & I are going to drawing up a new plan for the front yard and hope to get rid of about 70% of our lawn and put down river rock or flagstone w/ some large cactus & succulents.
Sorry to talk with my mouth full but this fudge is outa sight. I love cacti and succulents. I think the flagstone sounds great - nice backdrop for the plants. I don't have house plants anymore except for this poinsettia I can't believe is still thriving.
Sunday Brunch - French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage Links, Coffee, Tea, Crepes, Fresh Fruit, Milk & Cereal, Yogurt, Home Fried Potatoes, OJ, Mimosas (adults only please, we ID in this corner), Soft Drinks for minors. Please help yourselves to a bite & drink, pull up a chair for some reading time or conversation.
I have just started
by Val McDermid. I'm having a hard time finding a book that keeps my interest so have started (& dropped) several books in the past week.
Oh great, Julia! Your hospitality is going to get me in trouble. Wunnerful mimosas - now beginning to commence to get ready to go to art fair and wine tasting. Maybe the French toast will help!
Glad you enjoyed yourself Cheryl! Stop in any time and enjoy your art fair. I had my wine tasting last night.
Congrats to my cousin!!! I just found out that he & his GF set a wedding date, Aug 17th!! It will be a very small quiet ceremony with local family only, I am considered local family. Out of state relatives will be notified after. This calls for another mimosa, please and thank you very much.
*makes a mimosa* Congrats! Do you have a special job for the wedding, or just being a general doting aunty? August 17th is a great day, it's my parent's wedding anniversary - the 18th is dad's birthday, so its impossible for him to forget the date! He also says that waking up married to my mum was the best birthday gift ever.
How's the Val McDermid book going? I haven't read any of hers, although I have one sitting in my bookcase... has it held your attention?
Hi Bec! Glad to see you were able to stop in.So far, "The Retribution" is holding my attention better than any of the other books I've tried lately. I'm only on the 4th chapter so I hope it gets better. I also didn't realize it was a series.
Re my cousins wedding, my other cousin (sister to the cousin who is getting married) is officiating but I do not have any tasks assigned to me yet. I think I'll start looking for reasonable hotel rooms in the area though, see if we can get a group rate / discount.

Ah, you are in for a treat! Can't always do one of those so now I treat myself once each month to a hot stone pedi. Always feel afterward that I have a new pair of legs.
