is it a good book?? and what is it about? should i read it??

Angela (angelaxx) | 4 comments Personally I loved the book. The book is a series of letters written by a teenage boy to an anonymous person about his daily life. He writes to her(?) about the friendships he creates and everything he is going through. I suggest you read it, it is my favorite book.

N | 276 comments I really liked it too, reminded me of the Teen Angst movies of the 80's like Breakfast Club. I usually hate letter based books but this one was going great

I couldn't agree more! Letter books make me want to rip out my hair, but somehow this one makes it all flow so nicely. And Charlie, as Mel stated, comes across as so immensely innocent and pure. It's a fantastic read! (Even if you've seen the movie before the book as I have.) But whether you've seen the movie first - aka heard the soundtrack - or keep in mind the songs mentioned in the book, you literally are transported back into the 80s, as if you were smacked up in the middle of one such amazing 80s teen movie! :-)

Allye Even though a lot of people really loved this book, I wasn't one of them. I preferred the movie over the book which doesn't happen often. However that's just my opinion so hopefully you enjoy it if you read it!

Kate | 19 comments I loved the movie! Is it worth reading the book if you've watched the movie?

Allye I think that if you liked the movie then the book is good to go along with it. For me the movie kept me more entertaining and I felt it explained things in more detail sometimes.

Althea Toledo (althea_18) | 47 comments I personally prefer the book, but the movie was made really well that I have nothing but praise for it. It has an interesting storyline that keeps you glued to the book 'til you finish it. A must-read.

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) | 1572 comments I LOVED this book, the movie was good too but the book was even better, it's one of my all time favorites!

Viktorija (ViktorijaWinters) | 106 comments Honestly, I couldn't stand the book. I labored through it back in 9th grade and gave up after a few chapters. But when the movie came out I had forgotten it was the same story and I ended up loving it. So I thought I'd give the book a shot, and gave up again. The movie is much better in my opinion.

Melissa Ousley (melissaeskueousley) | 6 comments I really liked this book. Charlie is an innocent, honest character who deals with intense, mature issues as he discovers who he is. It's not a book for everyone, but I found it refreshing.

Erika Lynn | 4 comments Well im 50/50. The first half of the book seemed a little slow for me. The second half was better. I liked it because I could relate alot to what he was going through (when I was an adolescent). I really liked the writing style, too. It was different to say the least. Once I got halfway through the book I had a hard time putting it down.

The kicker for me was the ending. I dont wanna put an spoilers on here for potential readers but I actually had to google search a question about the ending because I was a little unsure of what happened. I guess maybe I didnt know how to portray the details that were given. Either that or I missed something. Once my question was answered, everything made sense and came together as to his behavioral/mental issues.

Real good book though, I would recommend that anyone give it a try. I havent seen the movie but am very eager to do so. :)
