You're flying through them Andy :-) I'm trying to get through Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two at the moment but since it's a physical book it'll probably take me the rest of the year and so far it's a bit disappointing. Plus I keep tapping it to turn the page and it doesn't work lol

I'm listening to Dust which is working very well :-)

Dust is a great finish to a great series. Not sure I'm bothered with The Cursed Child. Most reviews I'd listen to rate it as average to poor fan fiction. I loved the HP books and I think I'll leave it unsullied .
Currently working my way through Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman.
Its a quick read so probably be finished soon enough.

Dust turns back mostly to the characters from the first book, although Donald is still there, so it should work a bit better for you

I loved Shift cos it answered so many questions posed by Wool. I was so afraid that the it had all come to pass "because they were evil" which has been the ruination of many a good plot ;-)

I actually enjoy the Donald character. He is your trpical, morally dubious, politician who vaugly means well and wants to do the right thing but has no clue what's going on til its too late. His boss on the other hand is a bit scary!

I have to struggle on w8th the cursed child as it was a Christmas pressie from hubby :0 It's ok but notna patch on the books.

I am read reading Three Dollars . My copy has 57 to 88 missing? They are replaced with pages 265 to 296 (256 to 296 are repeated at the correct part of the book). Everything else seems fine.

My problem is it was sitting on my TBR since 2014 and Amazon only take back order from 2016 onwards. So I just continued with the pages skipped. A couple who was about to break up where I left off at page 56 are now about to get married? I don't know how or why but sure I am going with it.

Amazon sends me updates on my kindle. Sometimes the updates are so extensive that auto update feature doesn't work and they send me an email with instructions. When that happens I go through all my kindle books to see if there any others and there are usually a couple. It is a very tedious process, but may help you.

It's a paperback. I can see when I purchased it on my account. However the online returns feature only accepts returns for orders from 2016 and it was bought in 2014. I know if I can find an email adress or something they will take it back as it was clearly faulty when bought but it takes some work as they hide that kind of contact information on the site well. Beside I am still reading it :)

I enjoy the Bosch/Haller crossovers. I bought [book:The Crossing just haven't got round to reading it yet.

Thomas, I like crime fiction but I find I'm reading less and less of it these days. I cut my adult reading teeth on Agatha Christy! My mum was a huge fan.

You can't beat an Agatha Christie mystery. We did a buddy read of some of them a while back. Also Dorothy L. Sayers.

I recently finished Lisa Carey's The Stolen Child, and it is fantastic. It's set on an island off the western coast of Ireland and is absolutely spell-binding. I wrote a review, which you can find on my Goodreads author page. If you gravitate towards exceptional language and an authentic Irish setting, I recommend this book!

My live book club read Lying in Wait last month which I enjoyed very much. There was a lot of criticism that it was np"not realistic ". The characters were 2 dimensional etc. I often make those observations about real life murders. Truth is often even stranger than fiction. Maybe they'd rather read about gangland shotings as those make up the majority of killings here these days.

I just finished The Fortune Hunter did not care for it at all .It was pure Romance not my favorite genre to be honest so it may be me . 2 stars .
I went to the library and The Children's Home caught my eye so I checked it out . It has dismal ratings but it sounds interesting and it's short . It sounds more like horror than fantasy so I won't include it in the challenge.

The Three-Body Problem 5 star for me

it would fall into the hard sci-fi category, scientific concepts and speculation are central, but interesting characters in there too

translation worked well for me, there was an usual cadence at times, that emphasised the difference of language and culture
interestingly there is a different translator for book 2

To make it even more interesting KenLiu translates book 3 as well so they revert back.
As far as I know the reasion is when Book 2 was to be translated Ken Liu was finalising his own novel

I finished The Children's Home and really liked it. It was a cross between fantasy and Horror. I think anyone that likes David Mitchell will like this one :)

I have gotten to The Mare which was longlisted but not shortlisted for the Baileys. I am quite enjoying it so far, even though some of my GR friends didn't like it much.

I have decided not to read Thirteen Reasons Why but am watching the Netflix series instead. I have no idea what the book is like but the Netflix series is entertaining (if that is the right word for a story about the reasons a teenager committed suicide?).

I read the book Thirteen Reasons Why years ago but just finished the series on Netflix. I thought it was outstanding and really informative as to the long range effects of bullying. Let me know what you think when you are finished.

I have seen about 2 1/2 episodes so far and it looks good. Even something that seems small can have quite an effect on someone.

I am just curious. How many books would you read to decide if you like an author or a character? I don't know if I like Ken Bruen's character, Jack Taylor or not. I have now read two books and I'm still not really sure. I kind of like my detectives to actually do some detecting rather than just stumble around drunk or high. What does anyone else think? Anyone read this author?
