What Are You Reading

Nor had I. It's a transaction. I think it's kind of a hidden gem.

might inspire a new year's resolution

Have a nice day !

I am keen to try it though I'm usually disappointed with Bradbury. His ideas were wonderful and every now and then he constructs a beautiful sentence but in general I'm not a fan of his writing style.
I just finished Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
I enjoyed it and rate it 4/5. My review includes an online link to an author interview.

I have received 8 likes on my review, 7 from women, and Liz has now decided to read it. I think that you will enjoy it Colleen. Liz thanks those who liked my review, helping her decide to read it.

You're Welcome. It is still available on NetGalley. Free if you are registered, and get approved for the book. You are expected to write an honest review.

somehow, had managed to get to this point without reading a Harry Potter book or watching any of the movies.
eldest is reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, so we're reading in parallel,
good fun so far
must be on the box over Christmas, hopefully we'll finish and then watch
planning to not spend much time online in next week, if you celebrate Christmas, hope you have a good one.

If I didnt have kids I probably wouldn't have read or seen Harry Potter. There are quite a few books I'd have missed out on if I didnt read what they read. All genres are fun. I love a good YA book too!

If you want, I just have written my review, you can translate it to read it ^^

I've just opened up A Casual Vacancy by J.K Rowling ( I seem to have a thing for starting popular books years after they've been proclaimed ) and so far so good. Well, as good as any prologue can make me feel!

I haven't read it, though saw the film. I'll put it on my list. I also had le Carre's memoir 'The Pigeon Tunnel' for Christmas so will be in to that shortly.
I just finished The Borrowed . I recommend it to fans of deductive reasoning mysteries(Sherlock Holmes). My review

That was one of Le Carre's earliest books, and I've always thought it was his best. It stripped away all the false romance of the spy genre and instead gave a really chilling portrait of a burnt out operative who's lost all his illusions. It reminded me of Graham Greene's best novels.
I'm going to be working on two challenges in 2017.
A Daily Plan For Reading All of Shakespeare in a Year
Book Riot's 2017 Read Harder Challenge (This one will hopefully have some cross-over potential with the GRI genre challenge).

I have finished the Twelve Apostles it was a great read with first hand knowledge from the men who where part of the twelve, Documents, pictures and personal accounts from Micheal Collins letters

That was good for a smile.

I'm also listening to Warbreaker and I have to say it's refreshing to get enthralled in other world politics - different species, similar issues! I'm enjoying that one too.

we're starting into Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
have heard that later books are more appropriate for older kids, so we may pause after this one,
will see how it goes

Glad you also enjoyed it, Maria. I found the confessional scene where the priest, I think, is replaced by a criminal, very creepy. The dialogue was sharp and believable throughout and I am looking forward to more books from her. I think she used to have a blog, but it's gone now. Whose voice reads the audiobook? is it the author's?

It's a series of short essays based on dreams that Einstein had that led to him formulating his famous theory. It is full of ideas and philosophies and is both beautiful and thought provoking. It reads like poetry and is full of beauty and creativity. It's a reminder of how short and fragile life is and of the impermanence of all things. Big thinking portrayed in very simple language.
I've just written 4 sentences in a row beginning with "it's" LOL
