That's another one I bought and never listened to. So many books....

I wonder if I'll read either one? Some people like Neil Gaiman's long intro to his short stories but I'd rather read the stories first.
I only saw the modern version of the Sherlock story on Sherlock which was really modern and lots of fun and I'm sure NOTHING like the original because nothing on that show comes close! I love it though! Cumberbatch and Freeman are great.

So I'm enjoying a very satisfying lazy afternoon of baseball watching...even though it looks like my Yankees might lose their first game of the season. Afterwards, I'm going to head to the library to pick up my holds...including the BOTM (The Taxidermist's Daughter...which we'll be first up when I finish Midnight's Children (which should be tomorrow). I've also be slowly working my way through the short stories in Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements.

I will read them. Even intros are good where Gaiman is concerned.

Jeremy Brett is my favorite and always will be. I'd like to watch the whole series sometime.

Thanks Karen!
I loved Jeremy Brett. He was very good.

Hi Thomas he was one of the best actor out there have to say I think Jeremy Brett sidekick aka John Watson Edward Hardwicke worked very well together.

I think I'm biting the bullet and paying for MLB TV this year so that I can watch my Red Sox. Last year many many games on ESPN were not available as they'd switched to a subscription version of ESPN. In all fairness, I think the same should hapen for football which takes over all the major channels in the fall. Not only NFL but every bleeping college game.

I much the new versions of Sherlock. I never enjoyed the old films.

You're right Seraphina. Both the current conversations have taken a turn towards the screen.
In addition the GRI BOM I am currantly reading The Woman in White and A Gathering of Shadows. Both on kindle and both very long!!
I wimped out on the Collins book as it's almost 700 pages, I added narration. I'm pleasantly surprised by the freshness and humour of this story.

Isn't it a great complait? I remember back to my school days when I'd read everything the libary had and no bookshop in the town :-(

Yay! I put off reading Neil Gaiman because my first experience of him was Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch which he wrote with Terry Pratchett. I just couldn't get into that book at all. Now I love Neil Gaiman.

Lol!

And possibly the opposite goes for you Sherry, maybe Sir Terrys jokes weren't your thing but the more serious side of Gaimans work is more up your street.
I always felt Good Omens had more of a Pratchett feel and tone to it.

So for the past week or so I've been quite engrossed in Midnight's Children and unable to read much else. I quite enjoyed it.
"This is an extraordinaire book which I fell for hook, line, and sinker, despite not really being able to explain what it's about per say. The language is gorgeous and and the plot epic. I also liked how Rushdie describes feelings being embodied into food and leaking from person to person. I think if I was more familiar with the history of India/Pakistan, I would have gotten even more out of the novel, making it a 5 star read.
Oh my understanding of the book's language and rhythm was definitely helped by listening to it as as an audio book."

It's hard to believe but the only Rushdie book available on audible UK is in German. Stupid, archaic copywrite laws drive me mad!

Next book will be The Taxidermist's Daughter which I just got from the library.

@Margo That's unfortunate. Stupid archaic copyright laws are the worst! Any chance you can can get from your library system as a Book On CD?

OK i am going to be really bold here but has anyone hear of the epub (https://www.epubbooks.com/) free book on it
