just want to know what floats your boat folks when it comes to reading

message 2: by syafura (new)

syafura (noorsyafura) | 2 comments e-books. because i can bring it everywhere.

message 3: by Karel (last edited Apr 24, 2013 06:38PM) (new)

Karel | 11 comments Prefer? They're all for different situations!

I only read e-books when it's drivel or something light. I prefer paperbacks when it comes to long/serious works, since I find it hard to concentrate on e-books for a long time and things like Welsh's Filth is already hard enough to digest without squinting at my phone.

Hardbacks only when they're available at a discount because they look pretty on my shelf. (Hail ye, bookshelf vanity!)

message 4: by Syahira (new)

Syahira | 752 comments Not sure about the preference since I read on all medium. Each have its own advantage and disadvantage, but the function is still the same.

ajeep | 155 comments paperbacks

message 6: by Juwita (new)

Juwita | 98 comments Paperbacks. Hardcovers are too heavy to read while lying on the sofa. Haha! Not so keen on e-books. May come in handy, but don't really like reading from a screen.

message 7: by Azmira (new)

Azmira | 34 comments i prefer e-book because i can bring along thousands of books in a single device. love my nook. but i will buy paperback when i really love a book and add it for my collection.

message 8: by Farah (new)

Farah S (cutebear) | 2 comments Paperbacks and hardcovers! I love my collection and sometimes, i can be very bibliomaniac.. i love ebooks, too, though. i can bring it anywhere. but, really, i can't help but bringing along a hardcover or a paperback everytime i go somewhere..

message 9: by Hajar Y, (last edited Apr 25, 2013 07:20AM) (new)

Hajar Y, (quillandkindle) | 105 comments I don't really have any preference. Reading on a Kindle is pretty handy but I always purchase the paperback/hardback version of the book that I really like for my personal collection.

message 10: by Noninuna (new)

Noninuna (dereadinggirl) | 5 comments i read both. ebook is about quantity, mobility & saving space but paperback/hardcover are about the realness/physical of the book itself. most books i own are paperback.

message 11: by Mira (new)

Mira (myra_azmi) | 2 comments for serious reading, i prefer more to paperback.

message 12: by Lord Nouda (new)

Lord Nouda (nouda) | 54 comments I prefer ebooks in general. Nowadays I only buy paperback/hardcovers to collect rather than out of a need to "read" them. Ever since I got a Kindle I've pretty much stopped reading physical editions of books.

'book shelf vanity'...I think I may suffer from that as well if only books weren't so expensive these days...I miss the days when you could get an english novel for 5 bucks :/

same here...I found most hard to get titles on ebooks cheaper but for my favorite authors I'd still buy the paperback book if I can find them :)

Scha (shananigganz) | 45 comments Looks like a majority of votes for Hardcover/paperback.

Hail Ye Bookshelf Vanity :P

message 21: by Aini Akmalia (new)

Aini Akmalia (ainiakmaliaak) | 2 comments For me, I prefer paperbacks, because

PAPERBACKS (PB) VS HARDCOVERS (HC)
1. PB is cheaper than HC
2. PB is lighter than HC

PAPERBACKS (PB) VS E-BOOKS (EB)
1. PB is more fun than EB
2. PB is more satisfied than EB

message 22: by Mohd (new)

Mohd Raslan | 11 comments hardcover/paperback

message 23: by Nur (new)

Nur Shaheera Zainurin (nurshaheerazainurin) | 1 comments I love both and according to the situation. Paperback for Malay novel and e-book for English novel.

message 24: by Jihan (new)

Jihan | 8 comments paperback, e book belum try lagi, maybe soon.

Hard cover kalau buku tu susah nak jumpa.

message 25: by rina (new)

rina prefer paperback, cheaper and lighter.

message 26: by Anne (new)

Anne F (annefortescue) | 6 comments I used to love hardcover just because but later on realized that paperback is lighter and also cheaper. I wonder if I can stand e-book. Really wanna try.

message 27: by Sherryl (new)

Sherryl (salian) | 1 comments I do all my reading on my Paperwhite now. I had the previous non-backlit Kindle and didn't like it; but backlit e-books are awesome!!

Hubby wants to sleep with lights out? Doesn't matter! Find a comfy position but there is shadow? Doesn't matter! Bad environment lighting? Doesn't matter! Blackout? Doesn't matter! Reading a heavy book while lying in bed? No more worries about accidentally dropping a book on my face and losing my page anymore!

I also buy physical copies of books I like since book collecting is my favourite hobby.

message 28: by Neenee (new)

Neenee | 32 comments paperback for me. very old skool. Found it's quite okay with an e-book (on my galaxy) but it always runs out of battery.

message 29: by Sharifah (new)

Sharifah Hamzah | 2 comments Prefer hardcover/paperback: the kind of books where you
can put a real bookmark between the pages.

message 30: by Ari (new)

Ari | 3 comments E-book has its own advantage but I personally prefer paperback/hardcover over e-book. I can let it sunned under the roof of my car if I want to forget about it, where after a while I can pick it up again and discover the joy of reading a pretty old book. The only e-book I read currently is facebook.

message 31: by Anne (new)

Anne F (annefortescue) | 6 comments Ari wrote: "The only e-book I read currently is facebook. "

Hahahhahaha ok that's funny ;)

message 32: by cheryna27 (new)

cheryna27 | 18 comments Collector's item : Hardcover
Fiction: Paperpback

E-book is for those book that you would love to read over and over. Especially when travelling.

message 33: by Deviki (new)

Deviki | 207 comments I love traditional books no matter hardcover or paperback. I have very sensitive eyes and staring at bright screen can be rather painful for me.
Apart for the story/plot. I like the feeling of opening a book and flipping pages. I'm an old soul

message 34: by Noor Azran (new)

Noor Azran Aliasan (noorazran) | 9 comments my preference as follows;
hardcover - books meant for reference.
paperback - story books
e-book - i don't have the proper e-book reading device yet like kindle, nook etc. I don't consider tablet as proper e book reading device. I like the idea of having e book for light reading material.

message 35: by Farhanah (new)

Farhanah Atiqah (farhanahatiqah) | 3 comments Paperback, because they are cheaper and easier to hold. I don't mind a small hardcover books but bigger hardcover books (example:Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix),intimidate me.

message 36: by YuSRuL (new)

YuSRuL | 29 comments Hardcover & paperback. Selalunya paperback lah, senang nak baca watktu duduk, berdiri tepi jalan dan berguling-guling atas katil.

HAHAHA betul betul, Hardcover untuk buku buku yang saya suka giler giler saja. Lain semua paper bag senang nak baca kat KTM yg sesat :P

message 38: by Syafiq (new)

Syafiq KZaman | 6 comments nothing can substitute a real, materialize book. Though i have a Kindle Paperwhite, I still prefer to read the paperback or pocket book.

message 39: by Romi (new)

Romi | 7 comments hardcover/paper back. I just love that smell. I thought that's how a book should smell like.

message 40: by F. Hanim (new)

F. Hanim (fhanimkhalim) | 4 comments Pernah cuba baca e-book tapi tak pernah khatam. Selalunya melencong baca yang tak berkenaan haha.

message 41: by Ken (new)

Ken Hoong | 2 comments There is always this lingering love affair with physical paper books (smell, feel etc) even for those who are reading more ebooks. For books i connect with i have the paperbacks. I think its also partly because a lot of people in this region are not used to or not very much exposed to e-books. Many in the USA, UK and European are already on e-book via Kindle and other E-Readers.

I mostly go for ebooks (quantity, mobility, efficiency, and because i hate bookmarks). Used to have kindle, now using a local e-reader for local titles (E-Sentral - buatan malaysia yo) and kobo e-reader as i've switched to a samsung tablet

message 42: by Dina (new)

Dina (dina_osman) | 1 comments I prefer the old ones... Paperback and hardcovers book..
E-books is not my preferable..

message 43: by Mohamed (new)

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Terima kasih Asma, saya suka paperback novel, sebabnya seperti punya tetap memiliki, yang boleh sentuh. saya tidak suka e-book,
