I agree Julie is a wonderful person! I'm reading a signed copy of her book and this is the book that I won a contest to have a character named after me ;)

Ileana Tsai | 54 comments Julie - mine is plain scary!! I tried to read only books that are either highly recommended or with high reviews - greater than 4.00 as per Goodreads reviews. Did you read the first one from Jordyn Redwood?

I haven't read Proof yet Ileana but I have it also on my Kindle. Wow, good for you having at least a plan to tackle the TBR pile by only reading 4.00 or higher books. My problem with that is that sometimes I like a book a lot more than someone else may like a book so I can't go by the ratings. Also I try not to read reviews until I at least give the book a try as I don't want my opinion tainted by someone else's review. But I have also learned not to waste my time on a book that doesn't capture my interest and hold it right away so I am getting better at putting a book down rather than struggling through it.

I am exactly the same way. There have been so many books with 2-3 star ratings by others which I have loved and then other boos with high ratings which I didn't care for. I've also been better about putting a book down if it doesn't hook me by chapter 4!

I loved the Cape Refuge series after the first one. The main character, sorry I can't think of her name, made me so crazy I wanted to slap her silly. But she calmed down in book 2 and I learned to love her by the end of the series. I think that was the first series of Terri Blackstock's I read. (But NOT the last!)

That's good to know! I started book 1 but didn't get very far because I had a hard time relating to the heroine. Now I know to push through the next time I pick it up!

I almost didn't read book 2, because I found the heroine SO annoying, but in book 2 Terri mellowed her hard edge and by the 4th book I found myself cheering for her.

message 70: by Beth (new)

Beth (canadianbeth) I have read Proof. IIRC I gave it 5 stars, or as many as were available. :) I have Poison in my TBR pile here.

I have read pretty much everything of Terri Blackstock's and Kathy Herman's as well except the Seaport series, which is waiting for me at the library. Her newest one, Not by Sight, was just published, but my library does not have a listing for it yet.

I have also read all of Ronie Kendig except her two newest; have Trinity on my e-reader because the library still does not have it, nor do they have a listing for Talon. Her Discarded Heroes series was fantastic iMO.
