message 1051: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven was stunned, "Glad its getting better." she said compassionately

message 1052: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shrugged. "I'm used to it, so if I wake up missing a few hours, I don't really care. Heck, I've been out for days and been unfazed."

message 1053: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven raises an eyebrow, "Really? How does that not faze you?"

message 1054: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shrugged. "I've gotten used to it. I mean, I miss a day or two and wonder, but I'm not really surprised. Missing an hour or two doesn't even faze me anymore." she said plainly.

message 1055: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven nodded, she understood. Eventually it would become normal for her... if she had nightmares

message 1056: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden raised her eyebrows. "Did you just nod?" she asked softly.

message 1057: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) "Ya, how did you know?" Beven asked

message 1058: by cecilia (new)

cecilia "I don't know..." Hayden said softly. "Maybe you made a noise or something...? I kind of saw it in my head. Not with my eyes, but my mind..."

message 1059: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) "Maybe your getting a new power." Beven said hopefully and excitedly

message 1060: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shrugged. "I don't think so... this happens every time I fight or need to know what's happening..." she tensed. "Look around, is anything abnormal?"

message 1061: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven looked around, she didnt see much. "No, I dont think so..." she said slowly and continued to look around

message 1062: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden stopped, listening. She heard every footstep in the alley two blocks down, just barely. "Someone's coming." she whispered, knowing instantly it was her father.

message 1063: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven cursed under her breath, "Come on, we can hide under a dumpster or something," she hissed quietly, pulling Hayden to her feet slowly so she wouldnt be dizzy

message 1064: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shook her head. "No, they're not coming for us. They're just passing by. I can hear it in their footsteps. The pattern isn't leaning toward us. It's veering slightly away..." she didn't know how she knew this.

message 1065: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) "Just in case." Beven insisted and packed up their stuff quickly. She wasnt going to take any chances

message 1066: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden paused. The footsteps were getting quieter. She knew it was her father, waiting for her. He probably needed to talk to her. He'd have to suck it up and wait.

message 1067: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven started to hear the footsteps and pulled everyone behind the dumpster. It smell but they were going to have to deal with it

message 1068: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shook her head. "They're not coming for us..." she said as she heard them veer away, becoming silent.

message 1069: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven heard the foodsteps veer away. "Alright," she came out from behind the dumpster with everyone

message 1070: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shrugged. "I knew it. Can I go take a short walk?" she asked no one in particular. "I need to clear my mind. And I won't go far. I can't get lost. I cracked echolocation earlier..."

message 1071: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven bit her lip, and sighed, "I guess so. Please be careful." she pleaded

message 1072: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden nodded. "I always am." she mumbled before walking off down the alley carefully, to where she knew her father was waiting.

"Well, about time, Hayden Elena. What do you have to report?" Her father asked, not wasting any time with pleasantries.

Hayden bit her lip. "Nothing really. There's a new flock member, Isabel. That's it. What more do you want?" she asked.

"I want more information, girlie." Her father said again. "Fail me and I'll give you another attack. You know that very well." he said and walked away.

Hayden leaned heavily against the wall. "What on earth have I done?" she asked.

message 1073: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven sits against the wall and starts a fire, it was getting late, and the temperature was dropping.

message 1074: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden walked around a few more minutes, hoping to kill some time so her meeting with her father wouldn't be too suspicious. She walked back after fifteen minutes or so, sitting on the ground.

message 1075: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven smiled as Hayden returned, "Feel better? Clear you head?" she said happiy as she played with her fire, unable to burn

message 1076: by cecilia (new)

cecilia "Yeah. My head is clear." Hayden said simply, closing her eyes. Her head was far too clear.

message 1077: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven smiled, not suspecting a thing. One thing about her was she was way to trusting at times. She made the fire look like it was dancing

message 1078: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden smiled. "What are you doing?" she asked simply.

message 1079: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven looked up and grinned, "Just playing with my fire. Feel like a caveman." she teased

message 1080: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden smiled. "What does fire look like?" she asked, trying to visualize the setting.

message 1081: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) "Fire is a.. well...." Beven thought for a moment to find the perfect way to describe it, "Its dark and light, warm and cold. Its flickering flames move at my command and it glows like a firefly."

message 1082: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden nodded, thinking she had an idea. "I think I get it..." she said, trailing off.

message 1083: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven smiled and twirled the fire up until it evaporated

message 1084: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden finished the granola bar that she'd been eating earlier, sighing softly.

message 1085: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven could still feel the warmth of the fire, long after it had vanished. It was the one time she could feel at peace and clear her mind

message 1086: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden sighed, brought her knees to her chest, and rested her chin on them, her eyes closed. She didn't want to sleep, but relax slightly. Not an easy task with her head throbbing like it was.

message 1087: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) "Whats bothering you?" Beven said, she knew something was wrong. She just wished that Hayden would trust her enough to open up..

message 1088: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden bit her lip. "My dad." she grumbled. "He's a horrible person. At least I remember him as one. Haunting my nightmares every night."

message 1089: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven smiled weakly, "Thats ok, its the past. Im here to help you get over it. At least come to peace with it.."

message 1090: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Come to peace with what? The fact that he wants me to turn you guys in to the school so they can try to give me my sight back. I used to like the idea, but now I don't think my sight is worth it, especially if it can't be promised. She wished she could say all of that, but she didn't. "The past will never leave me alone." Hayden stated.

message 1091: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven nodded, she didnt have much of a past. So she really couldnt relate, but she was trying her best to comfort Hayden.

message 1092: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden shrugged. "I think by now I'm getting over it. Thirteen years is a long time to get over things..."

message 1093: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven looked at Hayden, feeling sorry for her. She hugged her and told her that she was there for her when she needed it

message 1094: by cecilia (new)

cecilia "I'm okay now." Hayden promised. "I'm fine." she bit her lip. Hayden was sick of having people feel sorry for her. It wasn't her fault she had a horrible past.

message 1095: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven nodded and leaned against the wall. She was exhausted

message 1096: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden didn't lean against the wall. The throbbing in her head had given her an aversion to walls.

message 1097: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven tried to stay awake, but slipped into sleep withoug realizing it

message 1098: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden hummed softly, a tune that she was making up on the spot, and stayed wide awake. She knew Beven had fallen asleep from the sound of her breathing. She wished Beven a peaceful sleep.

message 1099: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Sloma (Wierenga) Beven breathed heavily, as if she couldnt get enough air in her lungs. But she still slept peacefully

message 1100: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Hayden kept a close watch--listen?--on Beven. She knew Beven did the same for her, so she listened carefully to her surroundings.
