((I'll continue more later))

Viktor raised his eyebrows at his sister. "You got that wacko Oliver to deal with those lovebirds?" Sophia chuckled and looked down at her brother from her throne. "Have you ever actually met him, Viktor? His work is extraordinary… although I must admit, his obsession is a bit strange." Viktor laughed sharply. "A bit? He's an evil genius teenager who's obsessed with CUPCAKES! Is he even a demigod? He's certainly not a magician. Too… uncontrolled."
Sophia's smile turned to a glare. "Yes, he's a demigod… I think…. And anyways, Viktor, why do you care? As long as you get your glory, our father will be pleased, and--" "Out father failed us! He failed just like his own father, and I REFUSE to be associated with him. We are not doing this to "please father"," he mocked his sister. "We are here to gain power. And power is the only way to succeed in life." Viktor growled viciously.
Sophia looked at her brother in shock. "Brother, our father was a great man. He--" "He was a DISGRACE! Do not speak of him again!" Viktor stormed off and slammed the door behind him. "Viktor, I'm the queen!" Sophia shouted at thin air. She sighed in exasperation. "Brothers," she muttered.

Matthew placed his foot on the hard ground that was soft a moment before. The maze has changed; all the walls were sleek black metal, rising from slim caverns emanating blue light that left a faint glow on the bottom of the maze walls. Matthew walked forward nervously. The light stayed the same. He sighed with relief and kept walking through the maze, randomly choosing paths, turning around when he came to dead ends, and going through smoothly.
Then the trouble began.
A black wall slid in front of Matthew and almost sliced off his nose. Matthew watched as it rose higher and higher until the top was out of view. Matthew looked forward; he was stuck. He nearly turned around when a small slip of paper slid from the wall.
Either start over, or suffer my wrath.
-Oliver
Matthew tossed the card aside as two buttons appeared on the wall:
RESTART
CONTINUE
Matthew nervously reached out his finger and pressed CONTINUE. The wall slid down and Matthew continued.
((To be continued))

Matthew walked forward, his stomach buzzing, his hands shaking. His eyes were fixed on the path in front of him; he breathed deeply, trying to stay calm. Oliver wasn't too terrifying… was he? Just how evil could a person be if he was already insane? Matthew wasn't sure. He pulled out his pen, to feel protected, though he had nothing on which to write. A bead of sweat traced down his neck and tickled his collar bone. He shivered.
Suddenly, he heard a shriek. At first, it seemed like it came from the sky, but then he heard it louder from behind him; then from under him; then in front of him. He began to walk faster, glancing around himself frantically. The shrieks became louder, coming from every direction. Matthew sprinted, trying to make out a creature or machine, but none came into view.
Then he saw it. It looked like a bird… or some sort of… weasel? Matthew wasn't sure. As it came closer, he could see its huge eyes, its brown fur, its outstretched arms. It opened its mouth wide, revealing a massive array of razor sharp teeth. Matthew barely had time to duck before the flying squirrel zoomed over his head. Some others came crawling from the pits beneath the walls, some scampering from behind him, or in front of him, each with its own set of knives inside it's tiny mouth.
Matthew ran, but they were fast. Some clawed up the walls and glided to him. More came from the air, shrieking louder than ever before. Matthew put the quill back into his pocket, in fear that it might get torn to shreds. He turned paths, this way and that, but he didn't have much time for decision. Sometimes he would go down a path and find it filled with the creatures. There seemed to be dozens, hundreds even. Where had they come from? Was Oliver some sort of hybrid, maniac squirrel? Matthew's head filled with questions. But it kept the empty hole… a longing for memories that needed to be there.
Matthew stayed straight for a long time; the path on which he was running seemed endless. The squirrels still chased him; the shrieks still filled his ears. One monster bounced off of the wall and clawed across Matthew's forehead. Pain struck immediately. He finally turned the corner and found dozens more squirrels. He swerved around as another jumped onto his shoulder. He grabbed onto it and flung it to the ground, but the others had taken his pause to their advantage. His sight was now clouded by brown fur, his head circled and surrounded by the flying creatures. Turning left, Matthew found a clear path, but the creatures still followed close behind.
One knocked at his foot, another clawed his arm. He wiped the blood from his forehead, panting. He couldn't remember how long he had been running, but it seemed like at least an hour. When would this maze end? Had he been going the wrong way the entire time? He turned right and almost tripped over a squirrel. More grabbed onto him, to his legs, to his chest. He threw them off the best he could, but they kept multiplying. At some point, he would have to stop and rest. His legs felt like lead; his arm and head were throbbing. As another creature flew at his face, he tried to dodge it and fell onto the solid black surface. Monsters and blood clouded his vision, and blackness began to creep into his eyes. The last thing he saw before he shut them was a human; a girl, with black hair and red eyes, calling for help among the darkness and shadows.
Matthew blacked out.

Jasper swung open the metal door to the book store and held it open for Zoe. She looked over at him and cracked a smile. "Thank you..." She stepped inside, Jasper directly behind her.
The store wasn't very impressive. It was about the size of a large bedroom. There was one man to their left, sitting at a desk. A florescent light panel was cut into the white ceiling. There were shelves surrounding the building, with some in arranged in the middle, so it looked a bit like a school library. Jasper turned to his right, Sophia to her left, and they began searching for a mythology book.
"Can I help you with anything?" the man at the counter said gruffly. Zoe looked over at him and smiled politely. "Yes, we're looking for a book."
"Really? What a shock." Jasper rolled his eyes. Zoe sighed. "Do you have anything on Egyptian mythology?"
The man's face perked up. "Funny you should ask," he said, standing up from his seat at the counter. The man was not attractive; his eyes were bloodshot, his face was puffy, his eyebrows looked like brown bushes. "I was just reading a book about Egyptian mythology. It was actually quite... fascinating," he said, almost talking in monotone.
"May we... see it, for a moment?" Zoe asked, backing up a little as the man walked towards her. The man just smiled and looked behind him. Jasper followed his gaze and noticed a plain white door behind the desk that he hadn't seen before. "Why don't you two come out side with me for a minute," he said as a dark skinned, muscular woman entered the store from the door behind the desk. Jasper and Zoe walked with the man as he began to exit. They glanced at each other nervously. The woman followed close behind them.
"So, these are the titan's children of which you informed me," the woman said darkly behind them as they left the building. Her accent was thick and middle eastern. Or maybe... Egyptian.
"Yes, Tefnut. These are the ones."
"Tefnut?" Zoe whispered to Jasper as they stepped onto the blacktop of the parking lot, the sky storming even harder above them. Jasper's expression did not please her. "I think she was one of the first goddesses ever. But if she's behind us..."
"What about that Nefthoth lady?"
"You mean Nephthys?" came the voice from behind them. Jasper and Zoe turned. The man was no longer in sight. The woman continued. "Nephthys is my grand daughter. She is the keeper of rivers and the goddess of sleep. But Nephthys has no where near my power." She chuckled, seeming to be slowly growing before their eyes. "I am the mother of storms and rain. I could save the Egyptians crops, or drown them in destruction. I am also the goddess of time and order. And now it is time to bring you to order." She tilted her head up to the cloudy sky, now eight or nine feet tall above them, and uttered a terrifying sound that resembled a roar. Her hands and feet changed into paws. Her teeth grew into fangs. She looked at them with glowing red eyes. "Are you ready to be struck?"
Lightning flashed, and the battle began.

"I… I'm sure she was… er, is…" He did his best to stand up. "I think you've lost something… but you don't remember now, do you? Would you like me to help you get it back?"
