help finding a book

I'm trying to find a book about wolf like creatures that could move incredibly fast (so fast they could hardly be seen) , hid in shadows, and hunted in packs. Sorry the description is so vague, it's actually a book my mother read years ago and she can't remember much about it. I've always been curious to find it.
