Diane L I finished Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder, 419 pages.

message 102: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Good job everyone! I'm working on my theme book, and it's non fiction which I rarely read so it's taking a bit to get into it!

Also Friday and Saturday were crazy busy... I'm hoping to get a good chunk finished today though!

So proud of how awesome you all are doing!!!

message 103: by Diane L (new)

Diane L I haven't sent new numbers to the mods because they haven't yet posted the first set I sent. I don't want things to get confused, so waiting.

message 104: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I'm going to switch from Devil in the White City to Stardust for the Theme read. I don't read non fiction much and it's going to take me much longer than the read a thon for me to get through it.

Le sigh.

message 105: by Barb (new)

Barb I'll make both of those additions, Karla, thanks!

Evana, I actually get a lot less time to read on weekends than I do during the week. Too many other things going on most weekends :\

And I'm increasing my goal to 2500 pages, since we have another week to go.

message 106: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Go barb go!

message 107: by Barb (new)

Barb Well, son and his wife were supposed to be here this week, on leave before they leave for three years in Okinawa. But his leave has been postponed (it's a long story), so I'll have more time to read than I'd anticipated. Good for the page goals and book counts for this challenge, not so good for spending time with the kids :(

message 108: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) That really bites. I'm sorry, love. :(

message 109: by Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (last edited May 05, 2013 02:40PM) (new)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) hey - well it is official I am sick of the rain...:( it has rained here since early Friday evening all day Saturday & night & now it is raining all day for Sunday - how depressing - but the good thing is I finished another book yeah!!!

this was the color cover: Swimming Without a Net BY maryjanice davidson...it was a cute & funny read 281 pages...

Im changing my mind for the theme read from The Moon in the Mango Tree to Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Im sorry sweetie - I know its hard to be looking forward to something then have your hopes dashed - chin up maybe they will get to come home soon
(gives Barb a much needed hug)

Sorry, Barb. (view spoiler)

message 112: by Barb (new)

Barb Thanks everyone :) The kids *will get home before they leave, but instead of having them here for a couple of weeks, as we'd all hoped, they're probably only going to have 3-4 DAYS instead. We're all blaming the weather in Oklahoma this spring, as that's been the major factor for postponing his training. Ah well, not much you do about it, right? We'll just have to make the most of those few days :)

Barb Sallie(Shuga) wrote: "hey - well it is official I am sick of the rain...:( it has rained here since early Friday evening all day Saturday & night & now it is raining all day for Sunday - how depressing "

I don't think there's much worse than a weekend FULL of rain :( Hope the sun comes out soon, Sallie!

I'll add your books to my list, then post our updated totals before I sleep tonight.

message 114: by Barb (last edited May 05, 2013 04:13PM) (new)

Barb Has anyone on our team submitted the second Doublets puzzle yet? (The one that goes from STRESS to RESTED) I'm stumped, and I'm sure I've simply got the wrong word in one place that's messing everything up! But if one of you has already submitted it, I'll just give up and move on to the next on :)

I think I've submitted all of the others, so far, except the latest Doublet (BLOOD to WATER). I need to check the mini-challenges thread too, to see what's there, then I need to get back to my reading!

message 115: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I've submitted the two most recent doublets!

message 116: by Barb (new)

Barb OK good :) I just submitted the BLOOD to WATER one too; I found it much easier than the first two ... if I got it right LOL

message 117: by Barb (last edited May 05, 2013 07:13PM) (new)

Barb Man oh man, this duplicate covers thing is EVIL!! There's supposed to be four sets of four covers and five sets of five, but I've got FIVE sets of four and FOUR sets of five. I've obviously missed one somewhere, but after staring at those covers for what seems like hours, they're all blurring together into one gigantic blob of GREEN *sigh*

Aw, Barb! It can be done! Three people have done it, but in all honesty, they all took breaks.

message 119: by Barb (new)

Barb Oh I haven't given up LOL I just need to put it aside for a bit. I'll come back to it after work tomorrow - unless I hear that one of my teammates has finished it by then :)

message 120: by Karla (new)

Karla Read Blue Lipstick Concrete Poems by John Grandits , a YA poetry book that really makes you work for the 48 pages!

Also read Hidden by Helen Frost . The listing on here says it is 160 pages, but the book only had 142 pages.

Not all of us have young eyes like you do :)

message 125: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) It was either that or do work... at work... hahaha

message 126: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I just finished Stardust with 196 pages.

:)

message 127: by Barb (new)

Barb Yay Steven! I'll add your total to my list :)

message 128: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy, #1) by Mira Grant with pages of 357 for her theme

message 129: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Awesome, Nancy!!! :D

message 130: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Okay, so... aside from pages read goals, we still need Jane to post a theme and a color book, and Karla and Sallie to post a theme book.

We also need 2,317 more pages to meet the team goal.

Barb, make sure you add that book you finished last night to your mango tango team shelf so it shows up on your challenge! :D

message 131: by Barb (last edited May 07, 2013 09:13AM) (new)

Barb Yes sir LOL

Nancy, I'll add your book to my list, well done :)

Remember, if you want to change your page goals, or if you want to withdraw from the RaT, you need to post it here TODAY so our captains can report it to the mods before the deadline!

message 132: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Thinking about the deadline to withdraw, has anyone heard from Alba?

message 133: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Alba has already been removed from the Read-a-thon, and she's probably going to be removed from our team and put on a "holding team" in case she comes back.

She hasn't responded to my messages, posted a book, or commented on here at all since she joined that first day.

message 134: by Barb (new)

Barb Just call us the team of the revolving door :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Just saw Stevens comment. Theme book is the that's been on my TBR for a year correct ?

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Sorry iPhone is driving me crazy. The theme book is the book that has been on my TBR for a year. Geez I type all day u would think I could type in a dang phone

message 137: by Barb (new)

Barb Sallie(Shuga) wrote: "Just saw Stevens comment. Theme book is the that's been on my TBR for a year correct ?"

Yes, Sallie :)

message 138: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I am now back home from holiday but not going back to work before Monday.

I have finished Virtual Evil (Time Rovers, #2) by Jana Oliver 330 pages. It is my TBR book as I read the first in the series January 2012 and bought this already then.

I have read another 220 pages but I will post about that tomorrow when I finish the book.

message 139: by Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (last edited May 07, 2013 04:38PM) (new)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) My theme book is going to be Plum Spooky by janet evanovich...

message 140: by Karla (new)

Karla Caught a cold from the SPED class I subbed for last Friday, so haven't worked this week and have been reading instead.

Read The Watcher by James Howe for my theme book. Wasn't on my list on here, but I have owned it for over three years, so it should count, right?. It was 174 pages.

Also finished Zelah Green (Zelah Green #1) by Vanessa Curtis with 246 pages(even though it is listed as 250 pages).

message 141: by Barb (new)

Barb Yay for reading! I have Jane for 330 pgs and her TBR theme book and Karla for 420 pgs and her TBR theme book. Is that right?

Sallie, I'll mark your theme book when you've finished it, just so I don't confuse myself :)

Karla, sorry you have a cold, but more reading time is a good thing, isn't it?

message 142: by Barb (new)

Barb Karla wrote: "Wasn't on my list on here, but I have owned it for over three years, so it should count, right?"

Yep, it counts for our theme :)

message 143: by Steven (last edited May 07, 2013 07:42PM) (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) This was posted in the official update thread for the Read-a-thon. If you see an error, please let me know so I can correct it with the mods.
-------
Here's an official update from Mango Tango:

Alba was removed from the Read-a-thon, due to inactivity in the group since the day she joined a few weeks ago. This was previously discussed with Moderators Sonia and LK.

Theme: Angels & Demons (Robert Langdon, #1) by Dan Brown Color: The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister

Steven has read 627 out of 750 page goal, and has read his theme and color books.
Theme: Stardust by Neil Gaiman Color: A is for Alibi (Kinsey Millhone, #1) by Sue Grafton

Barb updated her goal to 2500 pages. She has read 1973 out of 2500, and has read her theme and her color book.

Theme: Virtual Evil (Time Rovers, #2) by Jana Oliver Color: In progress

Karla has upped her goal to 1000 pages. She has beaten her 1000 page goal and sits at 1258 pages, and has read both her theme and color books.
Theme: The Watcher by James Howe Color: A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass

Nancy has read surpassed her 600 page goal and is at 1150 pages, and has finished both her theme and color books.
Theme: Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy, #1) by Mira Grant Color: The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

Sallie (Shuga) has passed her 750 page goal with 988 pages, and has read her color book already.
Theme: In Progress Color: Swimming Without a Net (Fred the Mermaid, #2) by MaryJanice Davidson

TEAM PAGE GOAL: 8762/9600 pages.

✔=met page goal
-------

message 144: by Barb (new)

Barb So nicely organized :) Looks good to me, and go team go! We're only 900 pages from our team goal of 9600 pages. As long as Evana, Steven, Jane and I all reach our personal goals, we'll have that in the bag, right?

message 145: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Yep! I'll be done by tomorrow. I had planned on finishing this Sookie book tonight but nooooooo my partner and my friend living with us wouldn't let me alone long enough!!! Bah humbug!

I tried to make it pretty!

message 146: by Barb (new)

Barb I'm almost done with my next book, which will add another 278 pages to my total. And I'm determined to finish The King's Deception before this week is over, so that's another 432 pages, which will put me over my goal :)

message 147: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I am going to be sleepy tomorrow, but I stayed up to finish Club Dead.

Barb, finish that Cotton Malone book asap!

message 148: by Diane L (new)

Diane L I finished City of Silver A Mystery by Annamaria Alfieri City of Silver: A Mystery by Annamaria Alfieri, 317 pages.

I am about 90% done with The Da Vinci Code so I should finish it tomorrow morning.

message 149: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "I am going to be sleepy tomorrow, but I stayed up to finish Club Dead.

I *just finished Lost & Found by Jacqueline Sheehan -- who can resist that sweet puppy on the cover?? -- and have moved Cotton to the top of the pile. He's going with me to work tomorrow to read on my lunch break :)

message 150: by Barb (last edited May 07, 2013 09:48PM) (new)

Barb Got it, Evana; I'll add DaVinci tomorrow when you post that you've finished it :) I added City of Silver to my list, it looks good, and I need to find some historical mysteries for another challenge. Thanks for the tip!
