Diane L Where else are they putting them? Do we need to send the ones we find to Barb to put links in one of the reserved spaces on this thread?

message 52: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) You post it on that thread for the mini-challenges, Evana. :D

Such a dilemma! Well, you have the whole duration of the R-a-T to do them, so just do them when you need a break from reading. They are just for FUN!

You do NOT get any extra points for the mini-challenges submitted by Teams... like "Green with Envy." All those points have already been granted.

**Psst! A secret:** However, your Team might get lucky in another way with LK's cupcakes. But then, a Team can designate a player for them. ☺ Again, you have the whole R-a-T to do them.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Barb, oh Queen of Challenges, I've totally finished a book, a green book that should fulfill the Mango requirement. :)

A is for Alibi (Kinsey Millhone, #1) by Sue Grafton 320 pages

240 pages

message 57: by Barb (new)

Barb Congrats to both Steven and Evana :) I'll update your entries on the chart above. I finished a book, and it counts for our theme, but its cover was black and gold LOL I've got LOTS of books whose covers will work, though, so no worries.

message 58: by Barb (last edited May 02, 2013 07:13AM) (new)

Barb Over in the "official" thread for this challenge -- the one run by the mods where we're supposed to post updates, etc. -- Sonia has said that she'd prefer one or two daily updates from each team rather than reporting each finish on a book-by-book basis.

So, in THIS thread, for our team, I need you all to post this information for every book you finish during this RaT:
(1) the book title
(2) how many pages in the book and
(3) whether or not it qualifies for the theme or color challenges

I will update the chart in message #4 as often as I can, so that our team captains will have the info necessary to report in the official thread. Captains, when you report page totals, please let me know so I can start a new page tally for each team member, thanks :) If I miss adding your book/s to the chart, please let me know right away!

message 59: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Absolutely! :D

Thanks, Barb!

message 60: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Completed:
Angels & Demons by Dan Brown which counts for our "On the TBR for at least a year" theme and was 713 pages.
Extinct Languages by Johannes Friedrich, 180 pages

Now reading (in addition to Love, Aubrey):
The Eagle Of The Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff

message 61: by Barb (new)

Barb Great, Evana! I'll add these to your tally :) I've been listening to an audiobook all day today, should finish it before I sleep tonight. I'm thrilled because it will finally finish a series!!

message 62: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Go Evana Go!

Barb, finish that series!!! ONWARD!

message 63: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Finish a series? What is this 'finish a series?' Congrats on the rare occasion.

message 64: by Karla (new)

Karla Finished Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins today. It only counts for pages.
Page count: 372

message 65: by Barb (new)

Barb Evana wrote: "Finish a series? What is this 'finish a series?' Congrats on the rare occasion."

Yes, exactly LOL That's why I'm so excited LOL Of course, it's only a three-book series, but still ... It's one that's been on my list for years!

message 66: by Barb (new)

Barb Karla wrote: "Finished Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins today. It only counts for pages.

That's ok, Karla, pages are good :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) I finished Vampire Vacation (The V V Inn, #1) by C.J. Ellisson ...c j Ellison...298 pages

For my theme book Swimming Without a Net (Fred the Mermaid, #2) by MaryJanice Davidson maryjanice Davidson & for mango in the title. The Moon in the Mango Tree by Pamela Binnings Ewen ...

Did I leave out anything?

message 68: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Nope! Did you finish all three already?!?

message 69: by Barb (new)

Barb Yay Sallie! I love the cover on the Davidson book, but alas, it's #2 in a series. I'll have to look for #1 first.

I just finished Simple Genius (Sean King & Michelle Maxwell, #3) by David Baldacci , the last in David Baldacci's Sean King & Michelle Maxwell series. Not only did I add 421 pages for this RaT, but I get to cross another series off my list!

message 70: by Barb (new)

Barb Oh and ummm... since I've already exceeded my goal, I think I need to increase it a bit :) I'm going to up it to 1500 pages.

message 71: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I might have to do that too, unless I have more days like today. Very little reading. Couldn't even finish the 111 page Tudor Plot.

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson and it was 384 pages

message 73: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) YAY NANCY! Finishing your COLOR book AND over halfway to your page goal! WOOHOO!!

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

The next book that I will read for the theme is: Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy, #1) by Mira Grant

message 75: by Diane L (last edited May 03, 2013 06:31AM) (new)

Diane L Update sent to mods at 8:30 Central Time this morning. Nancy's book reported in message 72 was not in that report since it was not yet in the table back on page one.

message 76: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Nancy don't forget to mark the book as read so it shows up on your Mango Tango shelf for the main challenge! :D

Thanks, Evana, for doing that :)

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

oh yea forgot to do that. thanks

message 78: by Diane L (last edited May 03, 2013 02:01PM) (new)

Diane L Finished:
Love, Aubrey by Suzanne LaFleur, 272 pages
The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff, 292 pages
If we get credit for more than one book read for the theme, then Eagle of the Ninth counts as another theme book.

Now working on: The DaVinci Code and Magic Study.

message 79: by Barb (new)

Barb Great job, Nancy, and thanks for sending the update Evana. You're really ripping through these books, I am seriously impressed!

I was able to finish Double-Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery, #1) by Ali Brandon at lunch today, another 325 pages for my total :)

message 80: by Steven (last edited May 03, 2013 02:50PM) (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I finally finished The Tudor Plot A Cotton Malone Novella by Steve Berry at 111 pages. Now on to my theme read and then the mango titled book for the fun of it! :)

message 81: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Hoping to have more reading time this weekend. :D

message 82: by Barb (new)

Barb Evana wrote: "Update sent to mods at 8:30 Central Time this morning. Nancy's book reported in message 72 was not in that report since it was not yet in the table back on page one."

I think the easiest way for you captains to know what to report and for me to keep a running total of who's completed challenge tasks etc. is this:
I'll use message #3 on page 1 of this thread to keep a running total of pages read and goals completed. In message #4, I'll keep a day-by-day total for each participant, and I'll find a way to indicate which numbers have already been reported to the mods. Then you and Steven can check that message to see what needs to be reported.

I honestly don't think it's necessary to post an update for the mods daily -- at least not this early in the RaT -- unless they've asked for daily updates, but I'll leave that up to you and Steven to decide :)

message 83: by Barb (new)

Barb OK, when you have a moment, Evana and Steven, take a look at message #4 and see if you think that will work for keeping track of what's been officially reported and what hasn't. If you want me to change anything, let me know :) (Just don't ask me to delete some of the blank spaces in the chart; the html used to make the chart puts those spaces in and I can't figure out how to remove or reduce them!)

message 84: by Diane L (new)

Diane L I emailed the puzzle for mini-challenge 5 for our team.

message 85: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "I finally finished The Tudor Plot A Cotton Malone Novella by Steve Berry at 111 pages. Now on to my theme read and then the mango titled book for the fun of it! :)"

Yay, Steven! I'll add to your total pages read :)

message 86: by Diane L (new)

Diane L I think what you have in messages 3 and 4 is clear. I'll send in another update on Sunday morning and let you know when I have done it.

message 87: by Barb (new)

Barb That sounds good, Evana, thanks! I'll keep those messages as up-to-date as I can.

message 88: by Barb (new)

Barb I did it, I did it! I finished The Moving Finger, 299 pages, tonight :) Not sure what I'll pick up tomorrow, but I've got a LOT to choose from! Goodnight teammates, sleep well :)

message 89: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) What did you think? I like Miss Marple but that's one of the few I don't remember the story at all!

message 90: by Barb (new)

Barb I really liked it -- except that Miss Marple doesn't show up at all until about 3/4 of the way through the book! I didn't suspect the culprit AT ALL, but I'm always terrible at figuring whodunit.

On the inside flap of the book jacket, there's a note that says this book is one of Agatha Christie's favorites among her books. I haven't read enough of hers to make a proclamation like that :)

message 91: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I have a few favorites. That one didn't strike me as one of her best clearly as I don't remember it at all.

Crooked House, Murder on the Nile, Roger Ackroyd, Evil Under the Sun, peril at end house, orient express, and then there were none are some of my favorites... The more I read the better I got at guessing.

Oh, and it's funny to see how many other books and tv shows and movies have used her plot twists!

message 92: by Barb (new)

Barb Another book finished, I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life, 192 pages. A very quick read, although it was more 'preachy' than I'd expected -- and hoped for.

Do you think the green on the cover would work for our team color challenge? I have another book I can use if it's not the right green, but I'd rather knock out the color challenge NOW if I can :)

I Declare 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life by Joel Osteen

message 93: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I mean I'd say yes... The green mango has dark green areas too!
X)

message 94: by Barb (new)

Barb I'm going to count it, at least until I hear otherwise :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) hey everyone...just finished Second Chance Pass (Virgin River, #5) by Robyn Carr ...it was 409 pages...

message 96: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Go Sallie! :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Taking a break to watch the derby before I start my color book for RaT challenge. Go revolutionary & charming kitten

message 98: by Barb (new)

Barb Sallie(Shuga) wrote: "hey everyone...just finished Second Chance Pass (Virgin River, #5) by Robyn Carr...it was 409 pages..."

Thanks, Sallie! I'll add this to your total :)

Just so you all know, I have a file on my 'puter that I'm using to keep track of everyone's progress each day. At the end of the day, I'll update the information in the posts at the top of this thread. If I try to do it a you each post about your completions, I'll get confused about which I've updated and which I haven't.

So if you post that you've read a book but it doesn't show up yet at the top of the thread, that's why :)

message 99: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Way to go everyone! Those goals are already coming into sight. Saturday was a very busy one for me with little reading time. I'll try to have something to report for tomorrow.

message 100: by Karla (new)

Karla I finished A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass for my color book. It was 276 pages.

I'm raising my goal to 1000 since I have passed my first one.
