My hubby did that Jim, he was devastated when I told him he was 29 and not 28, this was a couple of months before his 30th birthday.

Hi all, I'm late to the debate. I'd say an 11 year-old can be published if s/he is good enough, but using their own name may attract the wrong sort of attention at school.

Back to the topic, I'd say that decision is entirely up to the 11 year old and her legal guardian(s). But I agree with Derek (comment 61), he/she could be unnecessarily asking for trouble at school, particularly if the book is at all controversial, or discusses a situation or circumstance widely known at the school, but would anger some if made public.

And I refuse to give my age!

Sorry to butt in, but I was very surprised at the number 26 popping up. My brain has been telling me I am 26 since I was probably 24- completely missed 24, 25 and actually been 26. I even cried at my wedding because I thought the vicar had put down the wrong age for me!
Even now I have to really think how old I actually am.
How odd that others think 26 is a great age too!
